Starfleet Mud97

Starfleet Mud97 is based in the UK. Their webpage doesn't really have much to go on about the mud itself so really its only good for connecting up to the mud.

The Mud itself is definitely pretty good, it had agood story line and room description were pretty good. It also had a nice "atmosphere" about the whole thing. We had fun going around for the first few days, but then as time dragged on and we became a little more used to the environment a few problems seemed to appear.

Firstly the players and gods (if there were any) are not exactly willing to offer much in the way of help. Although the layout is pretty simple. There are literally no directions to follow. Whenever we asked someone how to get to here or there, someguy person called Paris would just just look down at us from his spaceship!!??. The first few times it was amusing, after that it started getting a bit tedious to have this guy who knows how to help, just "looking down at you from his spaceship". In starship they use a whole new form of currency known as bars of something or other.. Anyway you kill something, you get credits, but you cannot buy anything with credits you have to convert them..Now this took Oblivious about an hour to figure out how to buy a bunch of eggs that were way too much in the first place.(Hint: Its all in the exchange command)

Well after we got our damn eggs, we thought we better go kill some stuff, so we went off happily and thats when it hit us. There were no exits, hit points, V's or anything else shown in the prompt, so we had to customize our on prompt. However a newbie at mudding would have absolutely no idea what to do at this point, so they would wander around the Starfleet world with just the experience level showing.

Advice: Not a really friendly place, and not really the place for beginners. However, if you can master some of the basic mud skills like customizing your own prompt and you also know the basic commands you should be pretty set. No Player killing in Starfleet, so this isn't the place for you PK-ers.
