This may arguably be the toughest step of them all. The first thing you need to do is make iron. To do this, you need to go to the Kobold mines. To get to the mines from the Voln Courtyard, you need to do the following: E, E, E, go trail, S, S, SW, W, climb bank, NE, NW, N, N, NE, N, NE, NE, N, N, NW, go hole. At this point go shrub to get to the charcoal burner. Here you need to make charcoal. To do this you need to get a log from the wood pile, tinder from the wood pile, and two wooden sticks. Rub the sticks together and you will start the fire. Once the fire dies down there should be some charcoal. Get charcoal and go bush. Then go shadows, down, down, N and search. You should find a filthy flask of oil. Then go S, down, S and search workface until you have two pieces of ore. Now you have the ingredients.
Then go N, up, go door and you will be in the smelting room. There is only one smelter, so you may have to wait for your turn. To make the iron, put the iron ore and the charcoal in the crucible. Turn valve until it is closed. Then go E and pour the oil in to pipe. Now pull the chain and then the bellows, alternating three times. Go W and turn the valve. At this point, watch carefully for signals that the air is running out. If you see it (which you shouldn't after 3 pulls) then go E and pull on the chain and bellows once more and you should be safe. If the process is missing any ingredients, or if the air runs out, you'll end up with a useless piece of slag and have to start over.
At this point, you need to get iron and you will have your iron slab. Now go door, up, up, out, out, SE, S, S, SW, SW, S, SW, S, S, SE, SW, climb bank, go bridge, W, W, NW, SW, S, SE, S, SE, S, S, S, SW, E, NE to reach Lake Eonak. There drop iron in lake and you should recieve a message of a task completed. Return to the monk and he will instruct you in the Symbol of Blessing.
