Step 24

Symbol of Dreams

A great boon, this symbol allows for an increased rate of mana, health, spirit, and experience gain.  However, people who poke you etc.  will wake you from your reverie, so be careful.  This symbol burns a lot of favor and it is a shame to waste it.  Any action performed by you also ends the symbol's effects.  Completing this step requires a lot of puzzle solving, and when I did it, I was a little haphazard and not sure exactly how I completed one of the puzzles.  You need to reach the top of Melgorehn's Reach, and there lay down at the altar and wait for a moonbeam to pass over you.  To reach the altar from the Voln courtyard, you need to go W, W, W, go trail, S, S, SW, W, go bridge, W, W, NW, SW, S, SE, S, SE, S, S, S, SW, E, NE, go path, go opening, figure out how to lower the drawbridge. Next you must follow the path and go up a slope. be careful not to be too encumbered, or you will be stranded here. Next is a puzzle with 5 runes controlling 4 steps of a giant staircase. You need to touch the runes in the proper sequence to get the stairs to be completed. At that point you can go staircase and reach the final challenge. you reach the edge of one peak and must figure out how to bring the gondola to you, then how to release it so it will return to the opposite peak. Once there, you are caught in fog and must get past it somehow, finding a way up. then enter the altar room. There lay down and wait for a moonbeam and you will recieve the completion message.  Going back will require the aid of a friend to bring back the gondola, or taking a long ride thru an underground river accessed from the altar room. Symbol of Return works, so if you have a friend who has it and the favor to use it and time to kill, drag them along for a fast evacuation.  Go back to the monk and he will instruct you in the Symbol of Dreams.
