While Link is traveling he may notice Navi turning green. If this happens, he should play either the Scarecrows Song or the Song of Storms. Either a Fairy Fountain will appear or a scarecrow will appear somewhere nearby.
Playing either Zelda's Lullaby, Epona's Song or the Song of Storms while standing in front of a Gossip Stone is another way to summon fairies.
Look for Fairy Fountains in the following area's:

Just for fun, here is the Kakariko Village Theme:

Now link is ready to confront Mido and hurry past him to visit the Deku Tree.
Index
Objectives inside the Deku Tree:
Link must now make his way to Hyrule Castle. The best way to get there is through Hyrule Field.
Hyrule Field
The Market
Chances are Link drooled over the Hylian Shield in the Castle Market but didn't have the Rupees to buy it yet. He can get one now by moving a gravestone in the Graveyard.
Reach the Royal Tomb by reading the stones in the rear of the Graveyard. Defeat the ghosts that are disturbed by your presence and enter the Tomb to learn a new song for the Ocarina.
Enter the house of Skulltula and learn about the curse of the Skulltula Spiders. Now, whenever link collects 10 Gold Skulltula Tokens, he can bring them to that house to collect a reward. Here's an extra incentive; For every 10 spiders he defeats, a child will be freed from the curse.
When Link is done visiting here, he can show the Princess's Letter to the guard in front of the gate to Death Mountain Trail. The guard will mention the Happy Mask Shop to Link. If Link returns to that shop, in the Castle Market, he can Borrow the Keaton Mask and sell it to the Guard. He must return to the store and turn in the money, but he'll get to keep a profit for himself. Now he must get back to business and pass on to Death Mountain.
The Lost Woods
Death Mountain
Link must travel up Death Mountain Trail to make it to Goron City. On his way he'll meet some Gorons. He'll find to his great sorrow that these happy, fun loving creatures are slowly starving to death. It's up to Link to find a way to re-open the path to their food source. Even though Gorons are friendly creatures, they still cause Link damage if one rolls over him while he is making his way up the mountain, so watch out! At the end of the trail, Link will find Goron City.
When link reaches the city he will hear from one Goron about how dark the city is. What's with all the unlit torches? Try playing Zelda's Lullaby while standing on the Royal Crest outside a locked door. Inside, Link will find the leader of the Gorons, Durunia. There are also some lit Torches in here that Link can use to light the unlit torches from.
Dodongo's Cavern
His first objective should be to find the Map and the Compass. He'll run into many lizards in this dungeon. To defeat them he should concentrate on their tails. When he runs into the gate that won't stay up, Link should push the Armos onto the switch to hold the gate open. When he gets to a room with a row of Bomb Flowers along the wall of giant stairs, he should pluck one of the flower growing in a corner and place it in the gapin the middle of the row. All of the flowers around the stairs will blow up, lowering the stairs so that Link will be able to climb them.
In the room with the blades, Link will find a Chest containing a Bomb Bag. He should search the walls for a movable block that will alow him to reach the ladder and climb for the exit. Shoot out any eyes you see in the next few rooms to trigger switches and extinguish scorching flames. When you get to the bridge, drop bombs through the gaps so that they land in the eyesockets of the giant Dodongo Skull. You will now be able to enter the next set of rooms through it's mouth.
Before Link can defeat King Dodongo, he'll have to find a way to push a block into the square in the middle one of the rooms. Once he does that, he will trigger the switch that opens the door leading to King Dodongo's chamber. Bomb the shadowed square in the middle of the room and drop through the hole to pay a visit to the ugly dinosaur. Time to send him back to extinction!
When Dodongo opens his mouth, toss a bomb inside. He will be temporarily stunned by the blast, so use the opportunity to hit him with your sword. Dodge his steamroll attacks, then repeat the Bomb, Swipe, Dodge routine. Four bombs should do the trick. Dodongo's done for!
Link need's a break at this point. Head back to the Lost Woods by way of the tunnel in Goron City. Leave the Lost Woods and re-enter from Kokiri Forest. Take the first left and play Saria's Song for the Skull Kid you see. He'll give you a piece of heart. Leave, then re-enter the Lost Woods and take your first right. Look for a target. Use your Slingshot to hit the 100 point mark 3 times and you'll be rewarded with a Deku Nut Bullets Bag. Climb down the ladder here and stand on the stump, then take out your Ocarina. The Skull Kids in this area will play a song for you. Mimic them, and they will reward you with a piece of heart.
Return to Kokiri Forest to restock and restore Links hearts, then make your way to Lon Lon Ranch.
Jump to the left bank of the river. As Link makes his way up the riverbank he will bump into a strange little man selling Magic Beans. Link should plant these beans wherever he sees a square patch of ground. When he returns to these spots when he's older, Link will find that each Bean will have sprouted into a helpful flying platform.
After Link plants a bean next to where the bean-seller stood, he should look around for a sandy patch of ground next to a circle of rocks. He can't go any further on this side of the riverbank, so this is where Link should make his leap when he attempts to jump back to the other side of the river.
Tip: At some point while Link is traveling along the riverbank he will bump into a group of croaking frogs. Stand on a nearby log and play a tune on the Ocarina for them. Also, if Link misses his mark when leaping from bank to bank and gets swept downstream, center him so that he can nab some Rupees as he gets swept along by the water.
Links travels upstream finally lead him to the Waterfall that conceals Zora's Domain. When he arrives he should play Zelda's Lullaby to soothe the Waterfall to sleep. It will stop long enough to reveal the entrance to Zora's Domain.
Zora's Domain
After Link speaks to King Zora, he should use his new diving abilities and search for Pricess Ruto in Lake Hylia.
Lake Hylia
Links main objective here should be to find a clue as to what happened to the Princess. Beneath the calm waters of Lake Hylia, Link will find a bottle with a message in it. Use the now empty bottle to catch a fish, if you like, but Link will have to take the message the bottle contained back to King Zora when he's done exploring here.
Link should also do some fishing while he is here. If he catches a Lunker he will be rewarded with a piece of heart. Later in the game there will be bigger fish and bigger prizes.
When Link is finished exploring he should return to King Zora with the note from Pricess Ruto. The King will be grateful for the news, and grant Link passage to Jabu-Jabu's Sacred Fountain.
Jabu-Jabu's Belly
A fish in a bottle would really come in handy here. If you have one, release it and Jabu-Jabu will open his mouth to eat it. Use the opportunity to enter his belly, and search for Princess Ruto.
Many of the tricks Link has learned will come into play in Jabu-Jabu's belly. In the beginning he will need to tickle Jabu-Jabu's throat to get him to open the covers over the passage ways. Use the Slingshot to shoot Deku Seeds at Jabu-Jabu's uvula (the thing that looks like a punchy bag hanging near the front of his throat). Link will also have to find things to weigh down switches while he is here. When he finds Ruto, she will insist that he carry her. This makes fighting difficult, and there may be times when you'll lose her. If this happens, go back to the area where she first insisted you carry her, and she'll be waiting. For the most part, you'll need to set her down before fighting difficult enemies. Sometimes while you are carrying her you will see an out of reach ledge or object. Toss her up to it, then find your own way up to meet her. Other times you will be unable to climb because of her. Boost her up first, then climb up yourself. She'll also be helpful for holding down switches while Link does something else (like fights). She's not always heavy enough, or available, so keep an eye open for heavy crates. Mainly, find Ruto's precious momento and toss her up to it. This will trigger the events that will bring you to Barinade.
Links other objective, besides defeating Barinade and bringing the Princess back safely, is to find the Boomerang. Once you have the Boomerang, Link can use it to stun stronger enemies, and kill weaker ones. It will be very helpful when a Bigocto starts chasing Link. If he takes a tight inside path he will be able to outrun the monster, and even get behind it. He can then stun the the Bigocto with his Boomerang which will keep the monster still long enough for Link to slash him with his sword. The Boomerang will also trigger out of reach switches.
When you finally reach Barinade, use your Boomerang to sever it's tenatacles. Stay clear of it's lightning bolt attacks by circling it. Attack the jellyfish it surrounds it's body with by using the Boomerang, then , when Barinades body is visible, attack with the sword. Links reward for ridding Jabu-Jabu of this terrible Parasite will be Zora's Saphire, and Ruto's undying adoration. (watch out, Zelda!).
After resting up, Link can go exploring with his new weapons and tie up any loose ends he may have missed. Theres still a lot to do and see while he is still a child. Two very important loose ends would be to collect as many gold spiders as you can and to bring them to the House of Skulltula for a reward, and to climb to the top of Death mountain to learn magic. Also, Link should bomb the boulder behind the castle gates to earn Dins Fire, and return to Kakariko Village, by way of the owl in Lake Hylia, to get the caged piece of heart if he hasn't already done so.
When Link is ready to take the Jewels he has won to the Temple of Time, he will sleep for seven years, and emerge as a young man.
Temple of Time
As Link approaches Hyrule Castle he will see his nightmare come to life. The mysterious figure on horseback is Impa, and the young girl she holds is Zelda. The malevolent figure that pursues them can be none other than Ganondorf. While Zelda fled, she threw the Ocarina of Time into the moat. When Link retrieves it she will contact him and teach him the song that will allow him to enter the Temple. After Link places the three Spiritual Stones on the Alter and plays the Song of Time, he will be able to enter the Door of Time. Once inside, Link can pull the Master Sword from the stone pedestal.
While all of this is going on, a sinister presence watches. Ganondorf's evil won't allow him to enter the Sacred Realm on his own, but what's to stop him once the true Hero opens it himself? Pushing young Link aside, he enters the Sacred Realm and claims the Triforces power for his own.
Because Link is too young and too small to wield the Master Sword, the temple contains his spirit for seven years. When Link awakens he discovers he is grown, and he is in the Chamber of Sages. The Sage, Rauru, is waiting for him, along with Sheik, protector of Hyrule. Together they explain to Link what has happened to Hyrule, and what Link needs to do to make things right again.
When Link emerges from the Temple he will be horrified by the changes that have taken place. The once lush and beautiful Hyrule is now brown and barren. Links first objective should be to travel to the Graveyard near Kakariko Village.
The Graveyard
Link needs to find the grave of Dampe, the gravedigger. Beneath Dampes grave is a secret tunnel. While Link is exploring it, Dampe will find him and challange him to a race. Link must dodge Dampes fireballs and keep him in sight at all times. If Link completes the race in less than a minute, Dampe will reward him with the Hookshot.
After receiving the Hookshot, Link should enter the next room and find a large, square stone. Play the Song of Time there and a passage to the Windmill will open. Talk to the Windmill Composer and he will teach Link the Song of Storm. Link should also jump up to the spinning platform to nab a Piece of Heart.
As Link leaves the Windmill, he will be reminded by Navi that he should visit the Sacred Forest Meadow
When Link passes through Kokiri Forest on his way to the Sacred Forest Meadow, he will learn that Saria is missing. Link must play Saria's song for Mido before he will recognize him as a friend and allow him to freely explore the woods. As he approaches the Meadow, Link will encounter Moblins. The only way to get the best of these creatures is to attack them from behind with the Hookshot. When Link finally reaches the clearing at the end of the maze, it won't be Saria he finds. Sheik will be there and will inform him that Saria is lost in the Forest Temple.
Forest Temple
Before Link enters the Temple, he should climb the vines and explore the trees for a chest with a key.
Link will use all his puzzel solving skills to get through this Temple. As usual, destroy all the enemies in a room to reveal any hidden chests or switches. Play the ocarina when standing on or in front of any stones with carvings. Trip switches to make something happen. Use the hookshot to pull yourself to out of the way places. Shoot at pitcures to summon the enemies they represent, then defeat that enemy to reveal the item they hold. Move blocks around to reach places your Hookshot won't grapple. Sometimes a block has to be pulled from one side, then pushed from another. After Link has the Fairy Bow, he can use it to shoot the Eye on the wall in the room where the two bubble ghosts were. Now the twisted corridor will straighten out, and, so will the room beyond it. Now Link can reach the blue chest with the Boss Key. In the room with the frozen eye, Link should aim his arrow so that it passes through the flame as it hits the eye. When you shoot the portrait of Amy Poe, five blocks will appear. Arrange four of them so that they form her pitcure. Last on Links's "to-do" list in this dungeon will be to defeat the Meg-Poe in the foyer. She is surrounded by three false Megs, but she gives herself away by spinning in place before circling with the others. After she is defeated, take the elevator that appears to the room with the rotating walls. Push on the wall to rotate the room, then look for a swiches to trip.
A Phantom Ganon will gallop from one of the paintings in the last room. The phantom will ride into a pitcure from time to time. Keep your eyes peeled because there is no way to guess which pitcure it will ride back out of. When you see it start to appear, shoot arrows into it. Whenever it shoots bolts of lightning at Link, he should repel them back at the phantom. After four bolts in a row hit the phantom, it will drop to the floor and Link will be able to slash it with his sword.
Now that the Forest Temple is exorcised of it's ghosts, Link must travel to Death Mountain Crater.
Tip: Link's next stop is Death Mountain Crater, by way of Goron City, but Link may feel a need to return to the Temple of Time and learn the secret of Time Travel.
Death Mountain Crater
As Link approaches Goron City he will find a single Goron rolling around in a ball. The only way Link will be able to get his attention is to stop him with a bomb. The lonely Goron will explain that the other Gorons are being held captive by Ganon in the Fire temple, and will present Link with a Goron Tunic. Link should equip the Tunic, then go to Darunia's Chamber and move the statue blocking the entrance to the Crater. The short passage through the Crater leads to the Fire Temple.
Fire Temple
Link will first run into Sheik, who will teach Link a new Song. Next, he will find Darunia, who will explain to Link that many more Gorons are trapped within the Temple and if Link doesn't free them, they will be sacrificed to the Temple's monster. Link will find a key with nearly every Goron he finds and releases. When Link makes his way to the lava geyser, he can use one of the nearby pedestals as a raft and ride the geyser to the third floor. Link will also learn a new trick for moving blocks. If they have special markings, he can serenade them!
Link will have to run if he wants the Megaton Hammer. Give him a head start by tripping the switch that controls the flames that surround the Hammer with an arrow, then run up the stairs to snatch it before the flames reignite. Once he has the Hammer, link should pound on every rusty switch, stone idol, and hieroglyph-faced platform he can find.
Once he has the Boss Key, Link should return to the room where he found Darunia to unlock the door leading to Volvagia. The weapon to use on this creature is, of course, the Megaton Hammer. As soon as Volvagia rears it's ugly head through one of the holes, pound it with the Hammer. Dodge any boulders that fall when it screeches, and wait for it to poke it's head through a hole again. When it get's pounded enough times, Link will be rewarded with the Fire Medallion.
Tip: You may have noticed an out of reach room. Return here when Link gets the Longshot, and call on your Scarecrow friend for a boost.
Now that Link has freed his friends, he must move on and check on his other friends, the Zora's. He will be unpleasantly surprised once more, and find himself exploring yet another place tainted by evil.....the Ice Cavern.
Ice Cavern
When Link reaches Zora Falls, he'll find that his friend, King Zora, Has been encased in Red Ice. Ordinary fire, bombs and even the Megaton Hammer are useless against this magical ice. Going to Jabu-Jabu will also prove useless, because the strange fish is nowhere to be found. Just beyond the spot where he once foundered, however, lays the entrance to the Ice Cavern.
Inside the Cavern, Link will find that a special Blue Fire burns. He should empty his bottles and collect as much of it as he can, because he will need it to burn the Red Ice that blocks the passageways in this icy Cavern. He will also need it later to free King Zora.
Link will find many Silver Rupees strewn about. He should collect every one he finds in a room to unlock any sealed passageways. In the area with Silver and Red Rupees he should first collect the Siver Rupees, then play the Song of Time before trying to collect the Red Rupees.
Link will collect two prizes here. He will earn the Iron Boots, and Sheik will teach him the Serenade of Water which magicaly transports Link to Lake Hylia whenever he plays it. Link should hold off on visiting the Lake until he has freed King Zora, though. So collect some Blue Fire, then return to the King and thaw the poor guy out. He will reward you with the Zora Tunic, which will allow Link to breathe freely under water. Before warping to Lake Hylia, put the tunic on and return to the sacred fountain. Put your new boots on, drop into the fountain and make your way to the center to snag the Piece of Heart, and the Rupees around it. When you're ready, play the song Sheik taught you to warp to Lake Hylia. Link will find that it has dried up considerably, despite the constant rain. Equip the Iron Boots and Zora Tunic and make your way to the entrance of the Water Temple.
Water Temple
By standing on a Triforce Crest and playing Zelda's Lullaby, Link can alter the water level in the Temple to suit his needs. Shooting arrows through lit torches, so that the arrow carrys the flame to unlit torches, is a trick Link will need to master to get through this Temple. At one point he may even run into a shadowy, but familiar, reflection. Several spinning attacks from Links sword will defeat Dark Link, and open the way to the Longshot. For the most part, Links usual tricks will get him where he needs to go. He will need to raise and lower the water levels, push and pull blocks, and, when he gets the Longshot, hook his way to the creature holding the Water Temple captive. You will have to visit and revisit several different rooms, but explore thouroughly and you will get everything you need to defeat Morpha.
Tiny Morpha may not look like much of a challenge, but it can surround itself with a tentacle of water which can toss Link around like a doll. Use the Longshot to hook Morpha and pull it out of it's armor of water. Once it's exposed, Link can attack it with his sword.
As Link heads down Lake Hylia Bridge he should aim his arrow into the rising sun. If he hits his target, blazing Fire Arrows will rain down from the sky. His joy will be short lived, though. Link will enter Kakariko Village and find it in flames. A terrible creature has escaped from the towns well. Sheik will appear to help put out the towns flames, and Links job will be to rid the creatures from Kakariko Well.
Kakariko Well
Link should start by speaking to the man in the Windmill. He will find, to his dismay, that playing his Ocarina as a child had somehow caused the Well to go dry, which in turn allowed monsters to escape. The only way to fit through the entrance to the Well is as a child, so Link should return to the Temple of Time to become small again and then return to Kakariko and enter the Well.
Links main objective in the Well will be to find the Lens of Truth. Once he has that, he will be able to see through fake walls and floors, as well as detect invisible monsters and traps.
Tips:
Once Link has set things right in Kakariko Village, he should return to the Temple of Time and reclaim his Sword. He'll have to be older and much stronger for the trial that awaits him in the Shadow Temple.
Index
Playing the Nocturne of Shadow will transport Link to the Shadow Temple. Once he descends the stairs he should stand in the center of the circle of unlit torches and use Dins Fire to light them.
Links first objective, after find ing the map, will be to find the Hover Boots. Once he's found them he will be able to cross the chasm which blocks his way to rest the Temple.
Tips:
When Link reaches Bongo Bongo his best method of attack would be to first freeze Bong Bongo's hands with Arrows, then look through the Lens of Truth to target his eye with another arrow. This will stun the beast long enough for Link to go in for the kill with his sword.
Link knows that he must cross the Haunted Wasteland to get to Ganondorf, but to get there he must first get through the Gerudo Fortress.
Index
When Link reaches the entrance to the desert he'll find that the bridge has been cut. With a mighty running leap, he and Epona should be able to clear the breach. (Or link can target the oppisite ledge with his Longshot). He won't get far before he's arrested and thrown in jail. Link can stun the guards patrolling the halls with his arrows. After he sets the imprisoned workers free, he will earn the respect of the Gerudo. He will be given honorary status, and more importantly, an honorary members card.
As an honorary Gerudo, Link will be given a chance to prove his worth in the Gerudo Training Center. The tasks in this level are difficult and Link will need all of his skills to complete them, usually within a time limit. When he decides to give it a shot, his tasks will be as follows:
When Link is done with the Gerudo's, he will have to move on to the Haunted Wasteland.
The only way to keep from being swallowed by the desert sands is if Link wears the Hover Boots. He should follow the trail of flags, and use the Longshot to hook him along from time to time. At some point a Phantom Guide will appear to show Link the way to the Spirit Temple. Link will also run into a merchant selling rare items. If Link can hover up to the flying carpet he sells his wares from, he will be pleasantly surprised to find that the merchant sells Bombchu's.
When Link reaches the dry Oasis, he should play the Song of Storms to make it rain. The storm will free the Fairies that were trapped there, and they will heal Link. Link should also look for a weak spot among the rocks in the Oasis. If he bombs the right spot, he will find the Great Fairy of Magic, who will teach Link Naryu's Love.
When the Phantom Guide takes his leave, Link will know he has reached the Spirit Temple.
Spirit Temple
Sheik will appear when Link approaches the Temple. He will teach Link the Requiem of Spirit, which will allow Link to warp directly to the Spirit Temple from anywhere. This will come in handy, since Link will soon discover that he has to return to the Temple of Time and revert back to being a child. Link is much to large to fit through the entrance as he is now.
When Link is small again he can warp to the Spirit Temple and enter it easily. His main objective as a child is to get the Silver Gauntlets. Once he has those, he will be able to move the giant block from the right entrance and enter as his older self. Once Inside, Link will meet Nabooru, a Gerudo who is also after the Silver Gauntlets
Tips for child Link:
Just as soon as Link has his hands on the Silver Gauntlets, he hears a cry in the desert. Two witches are circling Nabooru and causing a whirlwind of quicksand to drag her into the desert. Link can do nothing to help her as a child. he must return to the Temple of Time and reclaim the Master Sword from the pedestal, then return to the Spirit Temple and finish what he started there.
Tips for older Link.
The best way to deal with these sisters is to let them do all the work by reflecting one sisters spell at the other sister with your shield. When they merge into one being, called Twinrova, you'll have to work a little harder. Let the Mirror Shield absorb one type of spell three times in a row, then reflect it back at her. While she is stunned, go after her with your sword, and finish her off for good.
Well, Link has saved the six sages and they have gathered their power to form a bridge for Link to cross. Links next quest will b to break the six barriers of power in Ganon's Castle.
Ganon's Castle
Before entering the Castle, Link should return to the Temple of Time. When he arrives, he will learn Sheils secret and receive the Light Arrows.
Inside Ganons Castle, Link will need to destroy six Barriers. The Barriers are kept in six area's around the Castle. The area's, in counter clockwise order are: Forest, Water, Shadow, Fire, Light, Spirit.
Forest
Water:
Shadow:
Note: Now that Link has the Golden Gauntlets, he may want to step just outside the Castle and move the Giant Pillar. A Great Fairy will be there to refresh Link so that he can move on and destroy the final three Barriers.
Fire:
Light:
Spirit:
Link may want to step outside the Castle and refresh himself. His next stop will be in the center of the castle. Link will soon be climbing Ganondorf's Tower.
Ganondorf's Tower
Link will climb a seemingly endless staircase, fighting off enemies as he climbs. When he finally reaches the top, he will confront his worst nightmare. Link should use his spinning sword attack to reflect Ganons spells back at him, then pierce the beast with a Light Arrow. While he is stunned, Link can use the Longshot to hook Ganons cape, which will bring him in close enough for a sword attack. After a few good swipes, Link should hook a window with the Longshot so he will be out of range as Ganon recovers.
One more time
You thought it was over, huh? Ganon will be reborn as Ganondorf, and Link will have to battle the fiend once more. Link will lose hold of the Master Sword and will be forced to battle this new creature with the Light Arrows and the Megaton Hammer. Blind it with a Light Arrow, then smash it's tail with Hammer. When Link is able to grab hold of his sword once more, he should continue blinding the creature with arrows, and slice at it's tail with the Sword. Soon Ganondorf will fall, this time for good.
Tips
Where to find the Heart Pieces
There are 36 Heart Pieces for link to collect in all. Some he will be able to uncover as a boy, others he will not be able to find until he is older. If Link has the Stone of Agony it will tremble whenever a Piece of heart is near. Here are some tips to help you find them all.
Where to find Skulltula's
There are a total of 100 Skulltula spiders. Forty-four are located in dungeons, while the rest are scattered throughout Hyrule. Some Link will not be able to recover until he is grown, simply because they don't exist until then. While Link will be able to find some of the spiders during the day, many will not emerge until it is dark. Here is a list of area's, and the number of spiders Link will eventually be able to find there:

The "100-plus Skulltulas" cheat
This code, along with the 21 Bottlescode comes straight from Classified Information in Vol #119 of Nintendo Power Magazine:
Play the Song of Storms at the tree in front of Hyrule Castle (near Malon) to enter the lair of a Skulltula. Retrieve it's token with your boomerang, but before catching it, back-flip onto the warp platform. If you return to the hole, the spider will still be there, but you'll get credit for it's token.

Link's Arsenal
Deku Stick: A multi-purpose Item. Can be used as a weapon or tool, but serves mainly as a Torch.
Fairy Slingshot: A long range weapon Link uses as a child
Boomerang: Used mainly to stun enemies or to defeat weaker creatures. Also good for retrieving out of reach items.
Deku Nut: When thrown this item explodes in a flash of light that will often stun an enemy.
Ocarina: Different melodies played on these instuments produce various results. Link will need to find both the Fairy Ocarina and the Ocarina of Time to complete his Quest.
Lens of Truth: Useful for seeing through false walls and revealing invisible Items.
Bomb: Link uses bombs to blow up boulders and open weak spots in walls, often revealing hidden area's.
Bombchu:Carries Bombs to out of reach targets.
Magic Bean: A properly placed bean by child Link could sprout into a magic beanstalk that older Link may find useful.
Hookshot: This Item doubles as a Grapple and a Weapon, and can pull out of reach Items back to Link. Eventually Link will be able to upgrade to the Longshot.
Megaton Hammer: Another multi-purpos Item. This Hammer is useful for turning switches, moving blocks and pummeling enemies.
Fairy Bow: This Bow fires three different types of Arrows. Child Link is much too small to use this powerful weapon.
Fire Arrow: When used with Magic this arrow causes an explosion on contact.
Ice Arrow: If Link has enough Magic, this arrow can immobilize the enemy, making it an easy target.
Light Arrow: The most powerful of the three types of arrows, the Light Arrow consumes a large amount of Magic and does considerable damage.
Dins Fire: A spell left behind by the Goddess, Din. A blaze of fire envelopes Link, keeeping enemies at bay.
Farore's Wind: The Goddess Farore left behind a spell that would enable Link to create a Warp Point wherever he used it.
Nayru's Love: This spell, left behind by the Goddess Naryu, envelopes Link in a protective barrier for a short period of time.

Kokiri Forest
Your quest as Link begins as a child plagued by a terrible nightmare. Link dreams of a mysterious figure on horseback who holds a young girl as it gallops away into a stormy, starless night. A second, more terrible figure follows closely behind. Is the first figure kidnapping the girl? Or is it trying to rush her to saftey as the second figure pursues? Before he can find an answer to these questions, Link is awakened by the fairy, Navi. Link had always thought he was the only child in the village who didn't have his own fairy. Navi, it turns out, has come to be Links fairy, and to summon him to the Deku Tree. Link desperately wants to do as his fairy asks, but the Village Bully, Mido, is not about to let Link pass. Link must perform a few tasks in Kokiri forest before he goes anywhere else.
Objectives for Kokiri Forest:
Deku Tree
It seems the mighty Deku Tree has been cursed and is calling upon Link to free it of the creatures that have inhabited it. Links nightmares and the forces that allowed the sturdy tree to become infested are somehow related. The Deku Tree explains to Link that he is destined to become a mighty Hero, and it is up to him to save Hyrule from the Evil that is threatening it.

As Link enters Hyrule field, Saria will meet him and give him a gift. Link now has the Fairy Ocarina. Hyrule Field is the center of all Hyrule. Travelers must pass through the field to get just about anywhere. During the day this field is a safe haven. At night, however, travelers beware! Keep this in mind if you decide to cross the entire length of the field on foot. Without a horse crossing the field will take Link at least a day and a night. It will take him nearly a day just to get to Hyrule Castle. Try to get there before Dusk comes and they raise the drawbridge! If that happens, Link will be stuck outside the Castle courtyard fighting skeletons until dawn. Links first stop upon entering the courtyard should be The Market.
Index
Hyrule Market is a busy place, day or night. Different people roam the area, and different shops open or close, depending on what time it is. If a shop is not open during the day, try back that night. However, some stores won't open, day or night, until certain events in the game have taken place.
Before trying to enter the Castle, Speak to the girl named Malon. Try to enter the castle and let a guard throw you back out. Speak to Malon again and she will give you a strange looking Egg. Although Link would like to help Malon right away, he still needs to speak with Princess Zelda. To do that he must sneak into Hyrule Castle .

Hyrule Castle
Climb the wall to make your way past the gate, hide behind tree's to avoid being seen by the guards. Cross the field, then swim through the mote to get past the guards. Link will discover Malons father sleeping nearby when he climbs from the mote. (Follow the sound of his snoring.) By now the Egg Malon gave you should have hatched. Equip the Cucko that hatched from it to wake him.
Link still needs to get through the gardens if he wants to see Zelda. Push the Crates that were near Malons father so that they stack on top of each other and use the extra height to jump into the crawlspace across the Mote. Once you've made it into the Garden, hide behind hedges to stay out of the guards sight. When Link emerges form the royal gardens, he is surprised to find Princess Zelda waiting for him. She will give Link a letter that will alow him to pass freely through the gates. Her guardian, Impa, will teach Link a song to play on the Ocarina.
At some point Navi will remind Link that he should speak to Saria before setting out on the Princess's quest. If he returns to the village he will be told that Saria is waiting for him in the usua;l place. Where is that, you might ask? Try the Sacred Forest Meadow...to get there you must travel through the Lost Woods.

Lon Lon Ranch
When Link arrives at Lon-Lon Ranch he searches in vain for Malon. He should check the stables first, then make his way to the fenced range. He'll hear Malon singing to the horses. Follow the sound of her voice and when you find her, Malon will teach you a song.
Before link leaves Lon-Lon Ranch he should find the piece of heart hidden in the stone tower behind the horses fenced range. Move the crates around to find the crawlspace it's hidden in.
When Link is done exploring Lon-Lon Ranch he should move on to Zora's River.

Use one of the Cucco's you have already caught to lift you to those hard to reach places so that you can retrieve the harder to reach Cucco.

Goron City
Darunia is very troubled, so Link should play Saria's song for him. The great Goron will be grateful and will bestow Link with the Goron Bracelet. Now Link will be able to lift heavy bombs and use them to reveal hidden area's and treasure. Darunia will also ask Link to get rid of the evil King Dodongo. Of course Link wants to do anything he can to help, so he knows his next stop has to be Dodongo's Cavern.
Index
To open Dodongo's Cavern link will need to throw a bomb so that it lands just next to the boulder blocking the entrance. The best way to do this would be from the ledge directly above it. Once inside, Link will need to use the Bomb Flowers he finds to blast open entrances to various rooms. If he finds himself stuck in a room, try lighting all the torches to trigger the doors.

It seems Ganondorf has left his mark on this peaceful civilization, as well. Their beloved Princess is missing, and of course Link must put things right if he can. Before he moves on he should explore Zora's Domain thoroughly. Light the unlit torches behind the waterfall to reveal a chest with a piece of heart. Let the diving instructer give you diving lessons. He will reward your efforts with the Silver Scale, which will allow you to dive to greater depths.

While Link is here a couple of scarecrows will ask him to make up his own song for them to remember. Play any notes you like, but be sure to write them down. When Link is older he will need the Scarecrows help, and the only way they will recognize him is if he plays the song he taught them.
