                And in the American South,  a favored method of coercion or punishment of the Ku Klux Klan was the whipping.   The whip was not only reserved for people of African Decent.  In fact, the klan also inflicted a select portion of its wrath on those hated Northern opportunists called "Carpet-baggers" who invaded the South after the Civil War.
