Puck's
History
Eugene Milton Judd was born
in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Little is know about his formative years except
that he did many things and traversed many places before he joined Alpha
Flight as Puck. It was during this time that he encountered the likes of
Ernest Hemingway, Natasha Romanove (aka The Black Widow), Wolverine, and
even ran with a band of super-human mercenaries known as the Outcasts.
Judd, however, has no super powers of his own. His own physical prowess
has been honed through years of experience and practice. He has also fought
bulls in Spain, trained with Indian yogics, and purports to have visited
Crystalium, the crystal world of Crystar, the crystal warrior. His past
is checkered at best and documented evidence of Judd begins when he was
convicted of murder and imprisoned. That's when James MacDonald Hudson
found him. Hudson arranged for Judd's parole from prison, on the condition
that he never kill again. Hudson apparently believed that Judd's experience
would be valuable in Department H, the superhuman wing of Canada's defense
forces that he was forming at that time.
As a member of Alpha Flight,
Judd fought alongside such luminaries as Guardian (James Hudson in an E-M
battlesuit), Northstar, Aurora, Marrina, Snowbird, Sasquatch, Shaman, Talisman,
Box and Vindicator (Heather Hudson who assumed her husband's mantle after
he was believed killed in battle against the evil Omega Flight). At one
point, he sacrificed himself in a fight against the nightmarish Dreamqueen,
allowing his team-mates to trap the Dreamqueen in her own dimension of
Liveworld. Unfortunately for Judd, the 'Queen was not amused and decided
to vent her anger on Judd, who she captured and tortured. She later abandoned
him and attacked the Earth once more. This time, though, she did not return.
Judd remained stranded in Liveworld until Alpha passed through on their
way home from another dimension where they had been trapped by the being
known as Llan the Sorceror. Puck accompanied his friends back.
Back on Earth, Puck began
experiencing the effects of the Dreamqueen's torture. (Puck had made himself
well by mentally influencing the other dimension. That cure wore off on
Earth.) While in the hospital, he was kidnapped by agents of the Master
of the World and used as a guinea pig for the Master's genetic experiments.
It seemed that the Master was planning to turn Judd into a mate for the
brood of the amphibian Marrina, one of Judd's ex-team mates from the Flight,
Using the Master's equipment, Walter Langkowski was able to reverse most
of the damage. The effect left Judd with a condensed molecular structure
that made him super strong, super fit and super durable. It seemed, though,
that this effect wore off as Puck's physical make up reverted back into
regular flesh and muscle. He remained a member of Alpha Flight until the
team's dissolution at the end of the Hardliner affair. Department H was
closed and Alpha disbanded. Puck returned to civilian life, but did not
seem to cope well with it. He rented a small apartment and spent most of
his time drinking and living in the streets. However, this did not last
long as he and Heather Hudson were kidnapped by operatives of a new Department
H. To their surprise, they discovered that the top-secret government agency
was planning to create a new super-human strike force in a revived Alpha
Flight. Puck and Heather rejoined the team to fight the terrorist super-group,
Zodiac, but pulled out of Alpha Flight after the battle. Department H,
however, unwilling to let them go subdued and then brainwashed them.
The Department's sinister
plans were soon exposed when Puck received a disk from an inside informant
revealing all the evil happenings that were taking place in the department.
Under a more open Department H, Puck remains with Alpha Flight. He has
recently been on a date with Heather. |

Source of superhuman
power: Genetic manipulation of cellular structure. Puck's tissues were
condensed at a molecular level, causing his body to become akin to compressed
rubber.
Note: Puck
gained his superhuman powers thanks, in part, to the Master who had kidnapped
him and transformed him into a deformed giant. In order to restore his
humanity, Puck allowed himself to be subjected to genetic manipulation
by Sasquatch (Walter Lankowski). He also regained his dwarf stature as
a result of the process.
Prior to augmentation, Puck
possessed no superhuman powers, but was a professional level athlete and
fighter. He could press 500 pounds and had the speed and agility of a 6'
athlete. His overall superb physical condition provided him with the reflexes,
recovery and stamina far exceeding the average for a 6-foot adult male.
