Well, as a famous man once said, "All good things must come to an end." And, as Eddie Murphy said, "Is it not also tradition that times must, and always do, change". And so, keeping with that spirit, I believe I'm going to be starting all this over from scratch. I'm not real sure what I'll be putting up here anymore. Maybe I'll use this space to sell myself and my meager, yet noteworthy, abilities. I've seen a few pages out there that are very nicely arranged and set up. I must admit, I'm still quite novice with frames and java, but I'm reading and trying to learn. Mostly I listen to what others think or are doing and I experiment from there. But I would like to know more in a much more formal sense. Not that I've got money just oozing out of my pores to go and take all the college classes I want, but I wouldn't mind having a few more books on the subject.
Actually, I think the hardest thing to come up with has been the nominal fee I should charge people for what I'm offering. Right now I'm working on a co-workers site whom he's had some 17 yr old girl doing for him. Unfortunately it's obvious that she's learned the majority of her scripting abilities by doing basic builders and page generators, as opposed to actually hand writing the script and fully understanding what it all does.
Which is alright by me. Afterall, it gives me a reason to offer my services to people. I spend most of my time restructuring sites, reorganizing and debugging pages, and giving support and advice to beginners and novices. Mostly they've been just friends, but I'd really like to branch out a bit and give myself more of a legitimate reason to try and expand my knowledge base. I work mostly in HTML, but I'd really like to do more using frames, and I'd definitely like to get a better grasp of Java and how the language works. But for now, my spare time is consumed with my one paying job...and of course, hockey. Hey, everyone has their vices....mine just happens to be pummeling myself. But, all the time I have left afterwards is dedicated to being here and working on my small projects. You can see both for yourself by taking a look at Julies' Page or Chris' Page(Actually, this page is now defunct as of 2/21/05). Both are works in progress and the originators are also authoring as I script them. It's almost like colaborating on a comic book. But now I'm trying to figure out how to put some money behind my work. I'm charging Chris $40 to fix up his page. I'm still thinking about what sort of bill to send to Julie. But I'm sure it wont be much more. After all, she writes it, I just debug it.
Anyway, I keep wondering how I can expand myself into the world of personal pages and business workings. Well, that and how to get Visa to let me send them authorization for payment. I still haven't figured out a good way to do it. I used to have a few friends who were good in the areas where I was weak and we thought up a way to work online with one another. But I've lost track of them through faults with their ISPs and job relocations. So I suppose I have a few openings in my "company" for anyone who understands and/or specializes in Java Language. So, if you're intrigued, interested, or just laughing your butt off, drop me a line. I can help you with something you're working on, or help you get started on working on something. Or you could throw me your ideas and I'll do the work for you, setting you up on a host and putting together however many pages you'd like. Feel free to continue to browse through this site and see if maybe what I'm offering doesn't have some appeal for you. We can work out the details later.
