Poetry Games and Contests

The goal of the game is to guess which famous poet wrote the poem below. If you guess correctly then you can get a quote from one of your own poems and have it displayed along with the famous quotes on the home page.This poem will be left up until 2/22/00 an if nobody gets it by then I will give the answer away and pick the next poem to be put up. Send your guesses to Fear707@hotmail.com. Good Luck!

Love's Philosophy

The fountains mingle with the river
And the rivers with the Ocean,
The winds of Heaven mix for ever
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single;
All things by a law divine
In one spirit meet and mingle.
Why not I with thine?-

See the mountains kiss high Heaven
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister-flower would be forgiven
If it disdained its brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth
And the moonbeams kiss the sea:
What is all this sweet work worth
If thou kiss not me?

The Poetry contest consists(only members may enter) of sending in a poem on the topic of bells. The poems should be sent to Fear707@hotmail.com. The winner(chosen by myself and a group of friends) shall have his poem placed on this page and have an award given to him/her in the form of a graphic that will go on his/her personal profile. All entries should be sent in before March 1st, 2000.

If you have AOL there is a member chat room called Poetry Tag where you can play a game with other poets where a person tags someone and chooses a topic and that person must write a poem within a reaonable time on that topic and then he/she chooses or tags someone else and chooses a topic, and the cycle repeats itself. I go there constantly under the screen name Fear707 and enjoy the game very much. I would insist that anyone who is good on their feet with poetry should go try it out.
