History: To tell the truth, I've been drawing for a long time...I've been drawing since I was seven. I remember back then when I used to watch wrestling on Satuday nights, and my friends and I would draw our favorite wrestlers doing their signature moves. Ever since then, with a quick bolstering of comic book doses, it stuck.
Inspirations: Recently I've been finding a lot of new material in Japanese manga like Naruto, Battle Royale, and Real Bout High School. Gotta love those quirky Easterners... I'm also watching the American market, but haven't managed to pic up a 'zine in a while. I'm still a big Jim Lee fan.
Fave Artist: Nowadays? Jim Lee. He's been the man for years. I also like some Eastern-inspired stuff, and that guy who does New X-Men.
Interests: Right now, I'm interested in anything that'll further me in terms of getting to a position as a Game Designer (first and foremost) or a Graphic Artist (close second). I'd really like to learn programming code, and I definitely HAVE to CG my artwork more. Black and white is bland, unless I use a lot of darks.
Fave Thing: Out of all the stuff I own? Probably all of the artwork I've accumulated over the years. If my room burned down and I lost everything, I'd DIE...
If it had to be something other than my volumes of art and projects, it'd be my Green Mushroom shirt. I got a 1UP.
Stuff I Like: Here comes the list...God, King of Fighters, Street Fighter or fighting games in general, Final Fantasy (anything Square, or any videogame RPG for that matter), artwork (preferrably anime or hybrid, or Western stuff done 'true to form'), fighing games, RPGs, Magic: the Gathering, Alaskan Snow Crab, creating stuff, drawing, playing baseball, playing football, travelling, meeting people, the internet (and computers, in general), creation, clean underwear and cheese.
Pet Peeves: Powergamers. For those out there who roleplay, you know what I mean. If you don't, click here. And stupid people. But then again, everyone hates stupid people.
People who put words in your mouth. You know who I'm talkin' about...gossipers. They're always instigating trouble, and are two-faced in the end. Can't trust 'em. Thieves rank right up there.
And finally, anything shrill. Like the sound of nails against chalkboards. Makes my bones shiver. Even worse: the sight of something equally as grotesque. I've got a pretty good stomach, but sometimes...
Pixl's History: Pixl Projects started its humble beginnings in September of 1997 as a site called Avien's Dungeon. It was given the name because four of the five letters come from my name, Kevin. The 'K' just didn't fit, so I replaced it with an 'A', and it all worked out from there. I used that site for pretty much everything I moved on the 'net; most of my old art, images, sound files, documents - you name it. Eventually, I got it in my head that I wanted to make my own web site explicitly for my art, and so the wheels started turning for this project...
Eventually, I decided to rework the entire site, and create a couple others. One of my old sites that I ran in tandem with Avien's Dungeon was The Penny Arcade, a site about gaming which quickly closed down due to lack of gaming access and lack of updates. Avien's Dungeon continued, hosting a lot of my art and roleplaying silliness. Ultimately, I ended up creating another roleplay site called Telaria: World of Avianus. A lot of my roleplaying ideas are posted there, although I'm working on a completely new system called URGE.
Some time later, the rebirth of a fallen god was created with its darker tones. I was feeling pretty depressed back then, and a lot of that can be seen reflected in my artwork. As a matter of fact, Drachen was created in this era. I still don't know where I got such a cryptic name for the site from...it would probably have to be Arikawa's a Cellar of Killing Angel.
Nonetheless, time kept on tickin', and so did the site. rebirth ran for the majority of this site's tenure, with overhaul after overhaul, and sporadic image loads on the art side. Blame that on lack of resources. As the creator, being strapped for cash and time can make something as trivial as internet access pretty loathesome, since I really wanted it and had to deal with family issues in finally making it a staple.
Over the course of the summer of 2002, Pixl Projects became this site's title, and the sites of the coven, Telaria: World of Avianus and The Golden Inn were created for separate roleplay gaming goals. Pixl, however, remained true to its purpose; just a fun site with plenty of my art n' stuff. Hope you like it.
