This web page is all about Data Storage. I have links, pictures and lots of stuff. Please feel free to check out all my links and pictures.
Data storage is a very broad topic and it can include many things. It can be broken down into two main categories: magnetic disk and optical disk. Magnetic disk can either be a floppy disk or a hard disk. The floppy disk holds 1.44 megabytes and is 3.5 inches in diameter. A hard disk can vary in capacity and size. Smaller hard disk mean faster search times but more of them are needed to have a large total capacity.
Optical disk includes such things as CD-Rom and DVD-Rom. The difference from magnetic disk is that optical disk uses laser to write its information to the disk. The average CD-Rom can hold 650 to 700 megabytes and the average DVD-Rom can hold 14.4 Gigabytes.
