It is often said that a slave should not be proud, and that no slave can have honor, that honor is a thing for Masters only. The nature of honor defies absolute definition, and I will not try to constrain honor here, but will say that the honor amongst slave is not the same as the honor amongst Masters/Mistresses. However... the actions of a slave can certainly reflect honor on the place they are in, on the one who holds their collar. Some may try to deny this, but if a slave acts poorly, a Master/Mistress has to wonder about not only the quality of her training, but who it was who trained her, and at the Master who would permit such a sad creature to wear his collar about her neck. Is he such a poor Master that such a sad creature is all he can afford, or attract? Such a poor Master that he doesn't even know when he has a sub-standard slave? Is he such a poor Master that he is incapable of training a slave to decent standards? On the other hand, if the slave acts properly, Master/Mistress will look upon the slaves Master with approval and perhaps even envy. The Master/Mistress will think, "This slave has been exquisitely trained, she must be a dream to her Master, what a lucky fellow he is!". The Master/Mistress will be interested in knowing who trained such a slave, and if such training might be made available to his own slave one day. Who then, is being honored? The slave's Master, first... the slave's trainer, second... and last, to an extent, the slave herself receives praise in the form of the acknowledgment of her ability to learn, and be pleasing. |
