The city of Vaxjo is located in the south of Sweden, some 200 km north of Malmo and deep in the forrests of Smaland.
100 km to the east you find the city of Kalmar and the wonderful island Öland accessible by bridge. With its population
of 75 000 inhabitants and being the regional center of Kronoberg County, Vaxjo is a small city with a big city feeling.
In Vaxjo you'll find everything from shopping to hiking in the woods, pubs and restaurants to playgrounds and beaches, museum and university to golf and horseriding.
Vaxjo has been a city since 1342 but people have lived around Vaxjos lakes since Neolithic Age. There are ample traces
in and around the city of days long past like runestones, burial mounds and several castle ruins.
Being a very green city with many trees, several parks and farmed fields less than 500 m from the city square, it's also a
green city when it comes to our environment. There's good public transports and a complete net of bicycleroads all over
the city and you can swim in all the lakes and fish there as well. You can even enjoy your chatch from the city center lake
on your dinnerplate.
To the left I've gathered some useful links to get you started in discovering Vaxjo and it's surroundings but to tease your curiosity I added some pictures.
