Hey man! Thanks for checkin` out my `60s page !! Hope you have as much fun with it as I did in making it! Feel free to grab anything
you like by right-clicking it :) So...light up
the insense, put some Hendrix on the record
player,and get wasted,man!

I Loved the Sixties, man. If you didnt grow up then, you have no idea what you missed.Hippies, free love(though I was a bit young for it then, hehe),the war in Vietnam, and without a doubt the best music ever recorded! Can you imagine hearing on the radio every day bands like The Greatful Dead,Jimi Hendrix,The Beatles,Lovin` Spoonful,Janis Joplin,The Stones,Donovan,...wow man!! San Francisco was where it was happenin`,especially on Haight Ashbury where The Dead flopped and earned their reputation.

It seems Hippies were everywhere! Probobly,to me anyway, the girl who really epitomizes the "hippie" look, was none other than Michelle Phillips of the Mama`s and the Papa`s. Man,she was totally hot!!
And who could forget Janis Joplin?

The summer of `69,better known as "The Summer of Love",saw Apollo 11 and Neil Armstrong step foot on the moon.I remember my parents getting us up in the middle of the night to watch it on our black-and-white t.v. That probobly wouldnt faze kids nowadays, but back then we were absolutely blown away! Also that summer, the "Happening" that will never be duplicated called Woodstock took place on Max Yasger`s farm in upstate New York.

I remember my uncle and his friends piling into their car, heading on up there.I wanted to go so bad,but no way were they taking a little punk like me! It kills me that there have been various attempts at "re-creating" Woodstock. In my opinion, the reason they cant is because the kids of today are just totally out of control,as witnessed by the latest fiasco at the most recent one, where there were riots, looting of food stands, fires, etc. Plain and simple, the youth of today are unable to handle a situation like that.Way too much violence in them.Think about it...there were an estimated half a million people in and  around that farm groovin`,getting high,etc..with nothing even approaching the problems they`ve had recently. What a shame...
Yeah, the `60s produced the greatest rock-n-roll bands ever.By far, though, probobly the most influencial and talented of them all were The Beatles.

John Lennon,Paul McCartney,George Harrison and Ringo Starr. From their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan show, through Sgt.Peppers and Magical Mystery tour,to their finest work simply known as The White Album, the Beatles remain, without a doubt, the most talented and most successfull band in modern music history.Songs like "I Am the Walrus","Hey Jude","Let it Be","The Long and Winding Road","Strawberry Fields"...and how about "A Day in the Life"?  Wow...absolute genius!! ...and who would have known how prophetic "Happiness is a Warm Gun" would become??  R.I.P. John Lennon !!

Tons of other great bands came out of the Sixties....The Doors,Santana,The Stones,The Beach Boys,The Kinks,Donovan...and the great Sounds of Motown! Try really listening to the lyrics of any of these songs: most were about protesting the war in Vietnam, getting high,or falling in or out of love. Nothing like the violence or hate-filled songs of today. You wonder why there are so many kids going nuts today shooting up their classrooms, killing their parents,or otherwise acting like little pieces of sh*t? Listen to some of the lyrics in todays songs! Hey,not all of them,to be sure, but it seems there`s a segment of the so-called "arists" of the music industry today putting out crap about cop-killing,disrepect towards women, kill, kill, kill etc...it`s no friggin` wonder why there`s so much violence around today! If there`s ONE lesson to be learned from the Sixties,it`s this: Stop the violence, and learn to get along with everyone else!

OK,hehe..enough of my sermons and flashbacks...click on the button below to return to the Index Page!
