he Raven was born in 528 somewhere in the middle east.
n 533, she was captured by arabian slavers and sold on a slave market in Memphis. There, egyptian slavers bought her and named her Nefer-teri. They made her forget her birth name (an easy thing at the age of five when given enough pressure) and since then she reacts to this given, egyptian name.
rom there, she was sold into the East Roman Empire. Her beauty which was evident even at that age predestined her for a career as courtesan. Her trainers didn't care to use her egyptian name, so she was called the Raven for her long black hair and sharp claws.
his moniker was well deserved, since she ravaged more than one girl's face when they tried to take advantage of her youth or small stature and steal food or clothing from her.
n 545 she was sold to a sadistic trader (a vampire) in Greece. During the next 4 years, he called her to himself at night and feeding on her.
ne of the nights he drained her, the agents of a secret cult attacked the vampire's hold and destroyed him under great losses.
hese cultists were led by a high priest, called Anastasius Focht, who recently gained access to an intriguing manuscript (a copy of the Secret Writings of Cabirus).
pon visiting the site of battle, this priest assembled all recently slain bodies and began testing the ritual he had learned.
he Raven was the first, and probably only, survivor of his "administrations", making her technically a Cabiri.
s soon as she returned to life, the Raven fled the grueling site (she lay still among the other, slowly decomposing, corpses).
ince then, she is on the run from the high priest, who considers her his property. Focht did complete the ritual for himself shortly after he found the Raven missing form the ritual site.
week after her escape, she stumbled upon Hetch-Abehu, a mummy of the Shensu-heru who was on a mission for Horus. We was to find the recently surfaced copy of the writings of Cabirus.
eing a great help to him, he had to reconsider the general inferiority of the Cabiri in this special case.
ince the Raven was completely lost in this new, dangerous world, Hetch-Abehu allowed her to stay with him for some decades. After this interval, they agreed that the Raven was to be employed as an agent of the Shensu-heru.
ince then, she was regularly used to spy upon the mortal agents of Seth.
n the first centuries of her service, she was only assigned to mortal targets since she was unable to forget the time in the claws of her vampiric torturer.
urrently she is assigned to Paris, in a mission to assess the situation after the murder of the former Prince. This is the first time, she is actually required to observe the vampiric community.
urthermore, this is the first assignment she has to complete without the constant supervision of Hetch-Abehu or one of his mortal contacts.
his is a completely new situation for her that she both enjoys and dreads at the same time.
er secondary assignment is to discern the possibilities of employing Nicolas or other immortals found in Paris for the Shensu-heru's cause.
he Raven's relations to other people
ummies
he Shemsu-heru
he Ravens experience with the Shemsu-heru is limited to Hetch-Abehu.
etch-Abehu had always treated her friendly but distant, constantly focussing her mind on the Shemsu-heru's cause and always reminding her to evaluate all information gathered with respect to his own designs.
ntil now, to her knowledge, he has not informed anyone about his newly gained asset (newly gained in mummy-terms of time), being perfectly aware of the reaction, most of his allies would display.
ther mummies
he Raven is fairly certain that the high-priest who made her is still searching her, although she hasn't seen him or heard of him for many centuries.
ut, on the other hand, she constantly reminds herself, what is a couple of centuries for a truly immortal being ? Thus, she keeps a low profile and tries to avoid anything that could put her "father", as he tends to call himself, on her trail.
n 953, they have accidentally met for the first time, as mummies. Half crazed by his lonely existance, he then developed an irrational will to posess her that has slowly begun to dictate his every move.
mmortals
uring her time in India, about 100 years ago, she met Nicolas, who was on his way back to Paris, for the first time.
e believes her to be a mage of some kind, capable of manufacturing items of magical power.
ue to the trouble, she thrust upon him at that time - she used him as a tool for her battles- he has ever since kept a safe distance from her (You could call it the Amanda-effect).
nfortunately for him, he is extremely attracted to her.
hat makes any meeting with him a delightful experience for Raven and a never-ending turmoil for Nicolas.
ampires
ince the only vampire, she has ever had the pleasure to get to know on a more personal level was the trader who fed on her for four years before she was made a mummy.
ince then, she has avoided the closer aquaintance of vampires as much as possible. She has become quite adept at connecting to the mortal minions of Set while avoiding any direct contact to vampires.
his situation is definitely against the intentions of her "superiors", but until recently, she was not to be convinced to take the Shemsu-heru's cause to the vampires themselves.
his has obviously changed on her current mission.
he Raven, as she is mostly called, is a smallish woman of exceptional beauty. She normally wears long gowns that cling to her upper body while offering her a maximum of freedom for movement.
ormally she donns a long, dark, hooded cape with several hidden pockets. In these pockets she keeps the tools of her trade: Poisons, Daggers, some amulets.
er exceptional abilities in the arcane enable her, despite her beauty, to remain undetected most of the time. Whenever possible, she avoids direct physical confrontations and relies on he ability to outrun, outmaneuver and outoutsmart any opponent.
hen she relies on others to fight her battles. Cornered, she will fight.
he revels in the manipulation of others and will go great lengths to attain anything she wants.
