Sleep Requirements for Cross-breeds

- Average the sleeping time needed for both parts of the cross-breed, in case there are no grave differences in body-chemistry.
A human needs, say 8 hours of sleep, an Elf needs 3 hours of meditation.
Thus a Half-Elf would need either 5.5 hours of sleep or meditation, depending on the type of Half-Elf (mortal / immortal)
- Where body-chemistry greatly differs (the dominant life-form on Jupiter mates a human), check on the predominant environmental conditions where you're playing. The more it resembles Jupiter, the more the sleep requirements would match those of a Jupiter-creature since the human body-chemistry is not capable of sustaining life under such circumstances.
This, of course, only works when your character has stayed in this environment most of its development (both before and after birth).
- For hibernating creatures mating with, for instance, humans, you should check out, how much time of the year the different species do sleep.
Humans sleep approximately 8 out of 24 houes. A large bear sleeps 10 out of 24 hours and hibernates 90 days (20+ of 24 hours).
That leaves a human with 2920 of 8760 hours of sleep per year = 33 % of the total time.
The bear would sleep 4275 hours per year = 48.8 % of the total time.
The average sleep requirement of a human-bear cross-breed would be 40.9 % that is 3582.84 hours per year or 9.82 hours per day.
Depending on the world setting you play, a short hibernation phase of about 75 days at 20 hours or 90 days at 16.76 hours could be in order.
This hibernation phase would shorten the average sleep requitement of that cross-breed to only 7.543 hours per day when not hibernating.
That's about all I could dig up in a short while. I sincerely hope, it's of any use.
