A warded door is a locked door.

The guy wants you to break the (magical) locks a strange outsider has used on the dungeon's doors. He lets you find some amber throughout his dungeon, so you can have his servants (the big heads) transport you back to the entrance, without harming you. So the amber just serves to protect the character carrying it. You can do without it, if you have a healer or a Lloyds beacon spellcaster. The doors can be unlocked by clicking on them from the other side. Once unlocked, a door can be shut again, but that's no problem.

If you want to solve the quest easily, do the following: Cast Lloyds beacon at the entrance, just before you jump into the pit. Jump onto that big block of stone. You will see some 8 or 9 pits forming a circle around the stone block. Jump into one of these pits and explore it. While exploring the area, you will have to open some doors, thus breaking the wards. When finished, cast Lloyds beacon, jump into the start pit again, and continue with another area. Best save the northern pit for the end, as you will find there a chest needing a key you find elsewhere. When finished exploring the areas the 8 pits lead to, beacon back, jump onto the stone, and jump over the circle of pits. There are two more pits, just a little further from the stone. Explore these areas too.

When you think everything is over (make sure you have the skull from the chest; it will be usefull much later) go back to the Firelord.

If you have the 1.0 version of the game, you can keep clicking on the guy: each time he gives you the EXP over again. But you can't open the door next to the entrance. If you have the 1.1 version, you can open the door, collect the stuff inside, but will not be able to get the extra EXP.

Happy hunting.
