Q: What exactly is chat gaming?
Chat gaming is a method of playing turn-based RPGs and board games over the internet through simple chat. All player log onto the same chat line for a game, and a Game Master keeps track of all the statistics. Rules changes may be neccessary from game to game.
Q: Okay, okay. You wonderful people provide the chat room and other resources for play, but how much do I have to pay?
For the last time, NOTHING! All you have to do is book time in the room. The only reason for this is so that two games are not being played at the same time.
Q: Do I have to register my name and address?
On today's 'net, no one is safe. Information is power. The only personal information you must give is your name. And if you don't want to give your name, lie! We don't care.
Q: Alright, I like this. So where's the software I have to download?
All that is needed to play is Java capable browser. The chat room is Java based, so if you meet the requirements to look at this site (as was written at the bottom of index.htm) you can use the chat room!
Q: I'm techno-illiterate, I don't know if my browser is Java compatable. How can I tell without embarassinng my self in front of my co-workers?
Go back to HOME. Just below the big CGO logo and selection bar should be a gray box with scrolling text. It you can see the scrolling text, you have a Java capable browser! Next, to find out if you can utilize our security protocols, click the button below.
Please direct any other Java and JavaScript questions to dtales@hotmail.com.
Q: Uh-oh, one/niether of those worked. I guess I can't play, right?
Wrong! The newly added Room 3 is put up for those players without Java and JavaScript support. It does require CGI support, but if you don't have that, you have a home-made browser!
Q: Do you guys GM? Do you have to be booked like the chat rooms?
CGO staff rarely GMs. CGO staff may choose to book time in the room for a game, and sometime there will be open tourneys. But other than this, only rarely will one of us GM, and then only at our convienence.
Q: What's an "open tourney"?
Players booking time on CGO may choose to have their game as an open tournament. In this case, anyone who meet the requirments for the tournament may enter via form.
Q: Can you teach me to play one of the games offered here on CGO?
Whoa, hold it right there! You should be looking at the FAQ on the game that you want to play.
Who can we go to for clarification if we have an argument with the GM?
You can e-mail that game's administrator through the STAFF page. Ask any questions you need, and we'll do our best to answer them.
Q: What do I do if my question wasn't answered here?
Check the FAQ for game you'd like to play, or e-mail us at dtales@hotmail.com. Who knows, you guestion might be added here!
