You are a member of the HUNT, the High-risk United Nations Taskforce. Caught with your pants down on a routine surveillance mission, your only choice is to blaze through hundreds of armed soldiers, automations, and undead, eluding traps at every turn.
Rise of the Triad is another 3D RPG where you go around blasting the crap out of people. You play one of five members of the HUNT, and your mission is to stop the Oscurido cult, lead by their master El Oscuro. There are four episodes to barrel through and a multitude of Missile Weapons to mutilate the enemies with. There are numerous powerups and life items to restore your health, and then a bunch of dangerous traps such as Rolling Boulders, Crushing Cylinders, and Firejets to deal you more damage. The game features graphic scenery with parallaxing sky, fog, and light diminishing effects, radiant light, lightning, and other neat features, as well as several Comm-bat (multiplayer) levels for use over modem, network, or serial cable.
...so what do I think?
Simply put, this game is old. Although 1995 was only 4 years ago, there have been great advancments in computer gaming. You know graphics ect... I'm not saying however, it's a lousy game, because it doesn't suck that much. Rise of the Triad can still be fun to play, and since with the random level generator, the game can be endless, you can still spend hours playing it.
In conclusion, Rise of the Triad has it's highs, but I wouldn't recommend going out and buying it for a ridiculous price. It's been substatially devalued due to age so it shouldn't cost that much. If you do buy it, if you like these types of games you'll probably enjoy it. I give this game 2 K-Stars.
