Long ago, after the St. Aspira led her war of faith, a young Canoness named Bello became the leader of a small band of Sisters from the Order of Our Martyred Lady. Bello had been a battle hardened veteran for years, and had seen the face of the enemy everywhere she went. She had trained underneath Canoness Kym, who had taught Bello everything she had known.
Bello was quick to rise in power. After advancing from a Novice, to a Battle Sister, she found her place in the thick of battle. Bello proved herself in everything she did, showing her alliance only to the Emperor and Kym. Bello became a Celestian in no time. her skills proved to be most useful in the battle of Pokutan VIII, where she single-handedly led her squad into the jaws of the enemy after her Superior had been killed. After breaking through those deep Eldar lines on Pokutan, Bello was permitted the chance to become one of the mighty Seraphim. Bello trained hard, learning how to maintain her jump pack, and at the same time, mastering the skills of wielding two bolt pistols at once. When she was placed in the squad of Seraphim, it was no surprise that she was made a Superior, for her skills had been proven long before.
Then, at the battle of Delber's Peak, Bello proved herself once again, by shielding Canoness Kym from a barrage of Shuriken shots. Bello fell victim to her wounds, as was to be expected. Canoness Kym bent over the limp body of Bello, and wept, for she realized she was to be blamed for Bello's untimely death. Kym let out a long cry, and prayed to the Emperor for redemption from her cowardice, as Kym felt she was responsible for Bello's death.
There were only a few who saw it happen. Those who saw it happen claimed that Canoness Kym was lifted into the air, and a bright light escaped from her body and entered Bello's. With that, Kym fell dead to the ground, and Bello slowly started to get up. The confused troops rushed to the aid of Kym, but realized that it was no use, she was dead. They quickly turned their attention to Bello, and started to label her as a heretic, and blaming her for Kym's death.
Bello rose from the ground, and ignored the cries from her warriors. She walked over to Kym and took her power sword, and her plasma pistol. She then proceeded to tend her wounds, which were still bleeding. She ignored then, and turned her attention towards an Eldar jetbike speeding towards her. She leveled Kym's plasma pistol and let loose a single shot, blowing the jetbike to pieces. She turned to her troops and spoke.
"All those who oppose the daughters of the Emperor will perish!" she cried. The troops around her fell silent, and then a loud cheer rang out, as a new legend was born. Bello turned on her jump pack, and floated into the air. She looked around, and saw Kym?s body laying on the ground. She took flew down and picked it up, dodging shots from an Eldar Wraithlord. She saw her troops swarm around her, and smash head-long into the Eldar lines.
Bello took Kym's limp corpse, and held it high into the sky, reciting the prayer of the dead. "We shall honor the dead, and forget none!" she cried out once more. She flew forwards with Kym thrown over one shoulder, plasma pistol drawn. She let off shot after shot, killing Eldar left and right. And then, she spotted the wraithlord through the tree line. She fired off four shots, all hitting the target square in the legs. The wraithlord shook, and started on fire. It fell to the ground, and finally exploded as Bello placed one more shot into it's body.
It was only another four hours before the Eldar were broken and forced to retreat. As Bello chased them away, with Kym still over her shoulder, a regiment of Catachans appeared from behind the retreating Eldar, as the plan had stated. The Eldar were ripped to shreds between the fire of the Sisters, and the ordnance of the Imperial Guard.
Upon meeting up, Bello was greeted with the question of what happened to Kym, and why Bello was bleeding from all parts of her power armor. She gave no response, and only ordered her troops to rally inside of the landed Thunderhawk. There, she ordered the ship to take her to Ophelia VII, where she was to lay Kym to rest inside the Vault of Ends.
From that day on, Bello was honored and remembered. She was granted the right to become Kym's replacement as Canoness, and has led many crusades upon heretics and traitors of the Imperium. She has never forgotten Kym, and still feels that Kym is inside of her, somehow, in some way. |
