"Good morn to you kind sir. I have heard that you wish to know about the select few who have the heart to become a Knight."
"That being the case, I will most kindly set aside a moment to tell you a bit about us."
"First, a Knight is loyal. He will never leave a fallen comrade behind, He will never betray his Lord, He will never give up a quest which he has undertaken."
"Second, a Knight is selfless. He will risk his own life to save that of a friend, or even an innocent with whom he is not accquainted. He is to be a true protector."
"Third, a Knight will always help a damsel in distress, (Chuckle) as they are usually quite grateful."
-The Knight discipline is simply that. The hero in shining armor who follows a Code that most cannot understand, but still appreciate. Whether mounted or standing, he is a force that few care to challenge.
Important Attributes: Dexterity, Toughness, and Strength
Racial Restrictions: Obsidimen and Orks(see notes below)
Karma Ritual: The Knight stands in a defensive stance, as if between his comrades and those who wish to do them harm. He then envisions hordes of enemies rushing towards them and defends and attacks until the final foe lies dead at his feet.
Well, there it is, the long awaited Knight discipline. I know it is not as perfected as many of the other new disciplines on the web, but it will perhaps serve it's purpose. Feel free to make any changes to make it work better for you, but do not take credit for the work that I personally have done.
NEW TALENTS
Take Blow
Step Number: Rank + Dexterity Step
Action:No Skill Use:No
Requires Karma:No Strain:1
Take Blow is a selfless act designed to replace Avoid Blow and allow the Knight to help a weaker comrade. If the Knight is within 15 feet of a comrade being attacked. He may dive into the way of the attack and take the blow. The Knight must roll higher on his Take Blow test than the attacker does on his attack test in order to block the blow. If the Knight succeeds, he blocks the blow, and does not take damage. However, he is now on the ground. Sir Lionheart has just dismembered an Ork Scorcher, his friend, Michael the Troubadour, is about to be attacked by the remaining foe. Knowing his friend is weak from wounds, Sir Lionheart decides to dive into the way of the blow. He rolls a 15 on his Take Blow test, enough to beat the attack of the Ork. Lionheart is hit by the shaft of the axe and takes no damage. He falls to the ground.
Armored Skin
This talent is the same as Wood Skin in every way except that instead of the user's skin taking on a woodlike appearance, it becomes metallic and shiny. It also does not require a recovery test.
Knightly Armor
Step Number: Rank + Toughness
Action:Yes Skill Use:No
Requires Karma:Yes Strain:3
Knightly Armor is another selfless act by the Knight in order to defend others. The Knight's own armor begins to glow a golden color and then outlines the body of the targeted comrade. If the result of the Knightly Armor test surpasses that of the Spell Defense of the target, the Knight's Physical and Mystical Armor ratings are added to that of the target's for Rank in rounds.
Knightly Courage
Step Number: Rank + Charmisma
Action:No Skill Use:No
Requires Karma:No Strain:2
Knightly Courage allows the Knight to inspire his companions and give them the courage needed to take on the task at hand. A test is rolled against the target's Social Defense. A success give the target +rank in Knightly Courage steps to any tests against fear or intimidation. A number of target's equal to rank may be affected.
Spirit Riposte
Step Number: Rank + Willpower
Action:Yes Skill Use:No
Requires Karma:No Strain:1
Spirit Riposte is very similar to Spirit Strike, however, as the name implies, it is a riposte. The character, as with Spirit Strike, must have Astral Sight or a Thread Weaving to use Spirit Riposte. This is yet another talent designed to help protect others. If another character is out of range to be helped directly, the Knight may use Spirit Riposte to help defend and possibly inflict damage upon an attacker. Instead of going against the Spell Defense of the target as with Spirit Strike, the Knight's Spirit Riposte test must be higher than the result of the attacker's melee weapon's test. (Basically the same rules as with regular riposte) The character's weapon dissappears as it enters astral space, and then re-emerges trailing blue sparks as it leaps to defend the attacker's victim. Sir Lionheart and his friend Michael have again run into trouble. Perhaps they should not have been in the restricted area of the tower, but it is too late to reconsider now. Sir Lionheart has made his way to the bottom of the staircase, but Michael is caught up with a guard. Seeing no possible way of using his Take Blow talent in this situation, Sir Lionheart instead uses his Spirit Riposte as he sees the head of a spear lunge towards his companion. The result of his Spirit Riposte test is a 28(good rolling), enough to surpass the 21 rolled by the guard. The Spirit Riposte is successful, and the regular damage of is sword is now used to inflict some damage on the guard and make him think twice before doing his job again.
