Well, I guess you feel it is time to leave the safety of Manetheren.
I wish you safe passage, but take heed: the world is full of Darkfriends,
and worse. If you require a place of safety, outside of Manetheren, to
recover your energies I believe that I can help. Each of the places listed
below is owned by a friend of mine, they will offer you shelter and they
can be trusted. Fare thee well, friend, the Light shine on you, and may
you shelter in the palm of the Creator's hand. And for those who fail to
heed my warning: the last embrace of the Mother welcome you home.
- Bluestone Keep, the home of my friend Colin a.k.a. Blue. His page includes some of his poetry and stories.
- Knight's Manor, self-explanatory (except his real name is Dan).
- Andrew's House, the home of Andrew, of course. He has recently updated his page and provided me with the link to my new Guestbook.
If, however, you feel that "safety" is a dirty word, here
are some places where you can explore this world we share.
CHAT ROOMS
- Onlive Technologies, A new chat room similar to WorldsChat but using voice. rather than written, communication. (Pentium users only unfortunately. If you try this link write
me and tell me how it works, I don't have a Pentium (yet).)
- Powwow, an excellent chat site, it even allows you to take others on a tour of the net.
- WorldsChat, a formerly free Chat site that has recently gone commercial, but it was the best I've seen yet.
COOL SITES
- NSAMO - The Nova Scotia Anime and Manga Organization, whose homepage I created and maintain (sporadically).
- The Technosphere, design a Digital Beastie to live in a simulated world,
watch your beastie grow, mate, have kids, get eaten by another beastie.
- M-net, a wonderful service
that provided me with an e-mail address for free. But they operate on donations so don't be stingy. (login as "newuser").
- The Chebucto Community Net, another
excellent not-for-profit service that provides people in my area with free e-mail address and internet access. Again, Chebucto needs donations, so don't spare the dollars. (login as "guest").
- Virtual Flowers Homepage, Send a virtual bouquet to virtually anyone.
- The Internet Link Exchange, A great service (displayed at the top of this page) which allows you to advertise on other peoples pages in exchange for them advertising on yours. And it's all automatic.
- Lpage.com - The World Famous Guestbook Server, providers of my new Guestbook. Constantly being updated and improved, this is a service that will stick around.
- Oberlin 'Mech Lab, a MechWarrior 2 site that provides both new and modified 'Mech designs for use in MW2, GBL, and MERCs.
ONLINE GAMES
- Hangman, the classic game with three levels of difficulty.
- Riddler.com, a commercial site that promises prizes if you can beat their games. (Untried by me as yet).
- TIC TAC TOE, What else could it be?
SEARCH ENGINES
- AltaVista, in my opinion one of the better search engine available online.
- WhoWhere?, a search engine for E-mail addresses.
- Starting Point, a great point for starting out on the Web. Includes access to more than twenty search engines, a thesaurus, and a dictionary.
- Metasearch, a way to search multiple search engines.
- Open Text Corporation, a deep-level search engine.
- MetaCrawler Searching, I don't actually know anything about this one yet, just came across it.
- What's New Too!, a listing of what's new on the Web.
Please feel free to E-mail
me (ap128@chebucto.ns.ca) if you have any ideas on how to improve
this page, or if you have any links you think I should add.
