DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE MANGA AND THE ANIME

Most people read the manga and watch the anime Sailormoon just like that. Has anyone ever read both versions and noticed a few (or plenty of) differences? Sure, they just put about how do they look like and so on. Let's go in a little deeper:

Fukus

  1. Look at Sailormoon's fuku carefully in the manga. Then, look at her fuku in plain Sailormoon form. Notice that she has those 'thingies' on her head that she only seems to have when she becomes Super Sailormoon in the anime.
  2. Their skirts look like a real pleated skirt. It moves with them when they do a certain action in the manga. Unlike the anime version where it looks like as if it had just been starched.
  3. Their bows look somewhat shorter. Look and measure.
  4. Sailormoon's brooch looks different. So does her earrings.
  5. Sailor Mercury's fuku is slightly different. In the manga, she looks more like Sailor Pluto's fuku. Besides, she has this little microphone attached to her.
  6. Sailor Mars's fuku has a small red brooch in the manga. Look carefully. It only appears in the first volume. Then, it disappears.
  7. Sailor Jupiter's tiara always has an antenna sticking out. She also has a pouch full of rose earrings, but you can't see them anywhere at all except for the first artbook.
  8. Sailor Venus's tiara changes from a crescent moon to a tiara when the real princess is revealed.
  9. Sailor Uranus had worn ala Tuxedo Mask suit when she and Sailormoon first met in the manga.
  10. Sailormoon's tiara changed in 'Masquerade', when Sailor Venus arrived, when she became the moon princess and so on.

Transformations,Attacks and Weapons

  1. Sailor Venus's transformation pen is slightly different from the others.
  2. Ami's transformation pen was not given to her by Luna. It was given by the Sailor V machine after she managed to get the highest score. That's also where Usagi got her disguise pen: by banging the machine to get a prize like Ami's.
  3. The Inner and Outer Senshi didn't get their super powers in SuperS and Stars. They got it at the same time as Sailormoon got her Super transformation with the Grail. However, they only had it temporarily and stayed Super when the Inner's guardians came and in the Outers' case, Hotaru again.
  4. Sailor Moon's attacks are 'Moon Frisbee' and 'Moon Twillight Flash'. Both include attacks with her tiara.
  5. Sailor Venus's attack is 'Rolling Heart Vibration'and 'Venus Wink Chain Sword'. She still uses her 'Love Me Chain' in the manga.
  6. Ever notice that Sailor Moon's wand grows at times?
  7. Sailor Venus has a sword that she uses to kill Queen Beryl with.
  8. Sailor Saturn does her 'Death Reborn Revolution' in the manga. Very impressive!
  9. Uranus and Neptune don't have to look for the talismans. They already have it.
  10. The grail doesn't only come from the talismans. It comes from all the senshi, which explains why Sailormoon and Chibimoon couldn't use their grail in the manga during SuperS.
  11. Neo-Queen Serenity gives Sailormoon the heart moon rod and her brooch at the end of R.
  12. Chibimoon has an extra grail in S.
  13. Chibiusa's Pink Sugar Heart Rod comes from Luna P in the S manga.
  14. Super Sailormoon and Super Chibimoon have exactly the same wand in SuperS.

Characters

  1. They have lips! Their eyes are beautiful! They must also have the longest legs in the world!
  2. Usagi's hairstyle is not exactly round. It really looks like a bun in the manga.
  3. You should see their hair blow! It really looks like stands of hair blowing. The anime characters' hair movement doesn't look natural.
  4. Minako is not that silly in the manga. She's more mature and a real leader.
  5. They have presonalities which apply to us. Much better personalities.
  6. Is it my imagination, or Mamoru seems to be more romantic (and younger?)?
  7. Artemis becomes human as well. I have seen the picture, but I don't have it and it's not nice to steal pictures.
  8. Rei does NOT love Mamoru. No inner senshi has a boyfriend. Nobody except Usagi.
  9. Haruka has tried to tackle Usagi before and even kissed her before!
  10. Naru doesn't fall in love with Nephrite.
  11. Hotaru is a hostile person in the manga. Very hostile towards Chibiusa. Until Chibiusa helps her.
  12. Sailor Pluto dies in R and is reincarnated in S.
  13. Sailor Chibimoon appears in R.
  14. Hotaru is part robot in the manga due to a fire in a construction site when she was small.
  15. In episode 112 of Sailormoon S, Hotaru healed Chibiusa's knee when she was injured by the daimon. In the manga, Chibiusa transforms into Chibimoon first before getting injured and Hotaru heals her elbow and wraps it up with her handkerchief. Oh, and another thing, Chibiusa introduces herself to Hotaru.

Enemies

  1. Zoisite and Kunzite are not gay.
  2. Most of the enemies are only given one chance, then they die. They're usually killed.
  3. Queen Beryl didn't kill Jadeite or Zoisite. Neither did Zoisite kill Nephrite.
  4. Metalia did not take over Beryl's body. She's just a big black cloud with a lot of power.
  5. There is no Ail & Ann in the manga. They were filler episodes to let the manga catch up (Like you don't know!)
  6. The Ayakashi sisters were killed.
  7. Nobody kills the evil Endymion except Sailormoon herself. Not Metalia, not Beryl.
  8. Kunzite killed Tuxedo Mask, not Zoisite.
  9. Professor Tomoe dies. He wasn't healed or anything like that.
  10. The Tomoe family lives in a place called 'Tomoe Research Institute'. Maybe I could be wrong...
  11. You're missing something great if you don't see Hotaru change into Mistress 9 in the manga.
  12. The Witches 5 were killed. Then they were brought to live again but Sailor Neptune destroyed them.
  13. The Deathbusters are actually daimons who help Pharaoh 90 to create another planet that is in a nuclear winter state. However, their bodies only have one shape and have to use human souls to live in earth's atmosphere.
  14. Daimons have one shape which come out from bodies, that's what I see in the manga.

That's all I can get for the time being. You see, I've only read the Chinese manga without understanding a word of it, and the Malay translation is at #9 only. The rest are either referred from the original picture book, Hitoshi Doi-sama or translations of the manga on the Internet. So if you have other information or corrections, definitely email me!
