S Storyline

Welcome! Before I take you around, let me give you some info. Do you know why there are Outer Senshi and Inner Senshi? This has something to do with the alignment of the planets. The Inner Planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars and Jupiter. The Outer Planets are Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. The rest should be researched by yourselves because giving you too much info would be 'spoonfeeding' you.

The storyline at S revolves around the Holy Grail and the Anti Messiah, which goes out to make the story more interesting. According to other homepages by people who have seen the show, there are many disturbing scenes. How true.

When we left at R, Chibiusa returned to Crystal Tokyo all safe and sound, happy, happy. Then we see Rei in a scene where everything, including her friends are destroyed and three flashes of light appear, probably symbolising either the talismans or the Outer senshi who are capable of preventing the disaster.

We meet new enemies, the Deathbusters and the Witches 5 who are under them. We see a...man whose face is shadowed away and a woman with flowing long red hair and a sexy dress. She is Kaolinite, the strongest of the Witches. Although we are not sure if Kaolinite IS a witch, the others think of her as the highest rank of witches.

What are the purpose of the Deathbusters? Mainly, to gather the three talisman and destroy the world with the help of their boss, Master Pharaoh 90. These talisman are hidden in the pure hearts of people, whom may die if separated from their pure hearts for a prolonged period of time. That's when the new senshi come in.

You heard right; other senshi. The new ones, Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune appear in the first episode, only as mysterious figures. What is their mission? To foil whatever plan the Deathbusters have! Simple, ne? So they search for talismans too, only to find out where is it actually...

Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, Tenou Haruka and Kaiou Michiru respectively are students of Mugen High. They seem to be perfect in every way possible. That happens to be true, mind you. At their first meeting, Minako mistakes Haruka for a boy and falls in love with 'him' immediately. At first, they don't know each other's identities, but they do find out later, which leads to a more intense plot.

Sailor Pluto and Tomoe Hotaru also appear after a few episodes later. Chibiusa makes friends with Hotaru, no matter if she has 'gross' healing powers or having an entity inside her. However, Sailor Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are out to get Hotaru and make sure she never lives to be the Anti Messiah, or Sailor Saturn-both of which are the same.

The Inner senshi are all against the destruction of Hotaru and the battle begins.

One reason for the popularity of S was the Deathbusters. You see that enemies not only follow their master's bidding. They are all out to get credit for something, be it discovering the talisman or finding pure hearts for Mistress 9. Sometimes, they even go to kill each other and influencing the upper authority to take over the job. Mimete and Tellu, for example, are normal people; willing to achieve soemthing even if they have to kill. Mimete rigged Eudial's brakes and Tellu pulled the plug on Mimete, literally.

The Deathbusters are not only shown as your normal 'plot and kill' type of enemy 24 hours a day. They take time off to goof, or play Twister. It shows enemies in a whole new light, 'Hey, they're human like us!'

Still on the topic of the Deathbusters, the character who deserves an award is Tomoe Souichi, Hotaru's father. He is human like us, willing to sacrifice anything for a loved one. In this case, it was Hotaru, who was killed in a freak accident when Souichi's experiment failed. For his daughter's life, he sold his body to the Deathbusters. In the end, although the entity in him and Hotaru is gone, he struggles to rebuild his life without his wife. Besides, his insane laugh and antics is a must-hear and see.

What interested me throughout the series was the conflict between the Outers and the Inners. One wants to protect the earth and a senshi, the other to just protect the earth. Sometimes I pitied Sailor Pluto. Chibiusa was her only friend and she was siding the Inners. Pluto had to destroy Hotaru, yet try not to hurt Chibiusa's feelings. It's hard to stand on the fence, especially if your allies are on one side and the one you love on the other.

The series is not so serious either. There are its moments of comedy, like Chibiusa's appearance, the tea-drinking ceremony, Eudial's existence, etc. These are what makes us forget the whole plot and enjoy that show for a short time. Still, those are memorable times.

However, the ending was a little bit of a disappointment to certain people, since the conflict between Sailor Moon and Sailor Uranus & Neptune ended with Sailor Moon's victory. Then Uranus and Neptune get up, go and say that Sailor Moon's the messiah, after all their trouble. But it also had one last fight before the end of the series: Which says that sometimes, happy endings don't come in one episode ONLY.

From what I heard, the series is so frightening and funny that it's no wonder when all but one of the writers were fired after airing the series. Still, this is one of the most enjoyable series in the history of Sailormoon and just listening to sound clips or downloading video clips will not do it justice. Find the tape and watch it. I know, I did it myself.
