Peninsular Malaysia is dominated by a mountainous core consisting of
several parallel north-south ranges. The highest, the Main Range,
has peaks over 2,100 m (7,000 ft). Coastal plains are found between
the mountains and the sea in the west and east.
Sarawak consists largely of coastal plain. In Sabah the narrow coastal plain gradually gives way to a mountainous region that divides Malaysia from Indonesia. |
