        The Rayearth OVA, first released on July 25th '97, tells a different storyline from the original series, completing 3 episodes, which second episode was released on September 26th and third on December 10th. This time, Hikaru, Umi and Fuu are studying in the same school and most of the Cefiro characters are dead on the Anime or Manga.

        The Story

        On springtime, the three girls, Hikaru, Umi and Fuu are graduating junior high school students. But after gratuating, Fuu and Umi must depart from Tokyo to another place with their parents, and they will become far away from each other.
        There is an old school legend about a cherry tree, which says of one makes a wish under it, and if he can see the fairy from the tree, the wish may come true. So, the three girls promised each other that they will ever be friends, no matter on where each one would be.
        Hikaru, Umi and Fuu could see the fairy - Mokona - and Hikaru listened to a strange voice, and gained a red jewel. But to realize Hikaru's wish, she must be able to pass through a test.
        Cefiro finally arrives to realize Emerauld's wish, and then Hikaru's test will then begin...

        The character designer for the OVA series have changed to Megumi Kadonosono, who also designed Bakuretsu Hunter, Saint Tail and Nadesico. The theme for Rayearth this time is again sung by Naomi Tamura, with the song 'All You Need is Love'.

        Scripts

        I made some scripts for those who doesn't know what they are talking about and wants to know about it. But I warn you it tells everything (all dialogues and has a narration), so those who doesn't have the OVA and doesn't want to know about it until you get it, can just not look at this script.         The Characters

        Shidou Hikaru

        Hikaru is not too much different from the series. She doesn't practices kendo anymore, instead, she is the captain of the aerobic club. There are no informations about her brothers... Taking control of the Fire God Lexus, she fights Alcyone and Cefiro's attack.

        Ryuuzaki Umi

        Umi isn't so hysteric as on the Anime. She is more adult minded, and didn't care so much when she saw the giant Griphon. She is the captain of the tennis club, but is departing to Kanazawa with her parents. Taking control of Sea God Seles, she fights Ascot to protect Earth.

        Hououji Fuu

        Fuu is still the most intelligent of the three, but is not so much 'polite' than on the series. She plays the piano at the musical club, but she will go to another country with her parents. Taking control of Sky God Windam, she is the opponent of Ferio against Cefiro's invasion of Earth.

        Clef

        Clef is one of the Cefiro's people who is against the invasion, with his true interests still unknown. He entrusts Earth's and Cefiro's fate on the three girls friendship.

        Eagle

        Eagle is the commander of Cefiro's invasion to Earth, just to realize his older sister Emerauld's wish. For that, he fights against the Mashins of Rayearth and takes Cefiro's castle in Tokyo Tower's place. He might be blind.

        Emerauld

        Emerauld is the lord of all the Seijyuu commanders, and it is her wish to invade Earth and take place of the other world. Everyone loves her and her beaultiful voice, so that she sings only for Zagato.

        Zagato

        Zagato was the assistant of Emerauld as a priest, but he's completelly unmobile, in a place surrounded by water. What might happened for him to be like that? Emerauld's wish may have relation to his state... But, even immobile, he can control the Mashin who protects the Cefiro's castle.

        Lantis

        Lantis is still the same quiet person as ever. He is the other one who is against Cefiro's invasion of Earth and for that, he will fight against Eagle and Emerauld's wish. He has a wolf as his companion, which can transform into a sword.

        Ferio

        Ferio might not be Emerauld's younger brother in this series. He understands that the Earth invasion is a test that he must beat to find a successor to the ovum. He is one of the Seijyuu commanders and have use of magic. He takes control of an insect shaped Seijyuu to fight the Sky God Windam.

        Ascot

        Ascot is back as a child, and he's really proudful, so that he hates to be called a child. He takes controls a shrimp shaped Seijyuu to fight the Kaishin Seles.

        Alcyone

        Alcyone didn't change from the series. She uses ice magic and have control of a cat shaped Seijyuu. Again, she isn't so happy to be called old lady, but now she fights for Emerauld's wish against Clef and the Fire God Lexus

        Mokona

        Mokona is the same from the series, except he is a 'fairy' who only the chosen person can see him. And an ovum will be given to the one who was able to see Mokona.

        Seijyuu Lexus

        Lexus is now the Seijyuu of Fire who guided Hikaru to get her mind cleaned. Joining his powers with Hikaru, he becomes one of the Mashins of RayEarth to protect the planet from Cefiro's invasion.
