Sailor Moon is anime or Japanese Animation. TV shows such as Robotech, Ronin Warrior, Technoman, Speed Racer, and Voltron are all anime. The Sailor Moon anime is a TV show that enjoys massive popularity in Japan. It is a show that fits into the category of a "magical girl story." It was a originally intended for little girls ages 4-12. However, many people of all ages and sexes watch Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon originated as Manga, or Japanese comic books. This manga is written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi. She had done her first work, not on Sailor Moon, but on Sailor Venus (a.k.a. Sailor V.) This manga series was called "Codename: Sailor V." This series didn't have very much success. Then she began her work on Sailor Moon. "Sailor Moon" enjoyed much more popularity than Sailor V ever did. Sailor Moon has had 5 television series: Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, and Sailor Moon Super S, and Sailor Stars. Sailors Stars ended February 8th 1997 and was the final episode of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. After Sailor Stars, Sailormoon broke 200 epsodes, making it one of the longest running animated series ever (Right up there with "The Simpsons" and "Dragonball Z"). It has also had 17 graphic novels and several movies and OVA's.
