The international marriage ceremony and the announcement party were done in Kedah state, Malaysia on May, 1996.
We are very thankful to the neighborhoods of Bedong, relatives and our family in Malaysia who did serving dishes, preparation of the place, arrangement and entertainment for visitors, and things various. In Malaysia, although it was general, during announcement parties we were completely treated as guests with honor.

The farmland of Kedah was in the harvest season of cigarettes. When we arrived at the parents' home of Hanisah in midnight, their leaves had been dried all over the yard. At last, we had arrived at the place in where we just wed. At last? We knew latter it is not yet. It is just beginning of the long way to complete our wedding!
Malaysian government office is also a little loose. The boss of Kedah State Registration Office in Sg.Putani often take a walk to neighbor mosque or somewhere else even in his working time. When we reached to receive examination, as we were afraid, he was lost! Nobody knew his destination. A government office will close at 4:00 p.m. We could do nothing except getting angry. It was the time but he did not return. Because of the above reason, our wedding was done latter than its announcement party. It is our secret forever. Neighborhoods of her country are old fashioned still more, and when it is disclosed, somebody may amaze or get angry. Therefore, you should join to our secret. (^_^; Later we knew that he returned after 3 minutes from we gone. Regrettable.
In order that we might pull ourselves together, we visited the biggest market in Bedong. In there, many stalls open every day and we can buy foods and clothes. My Japanese family had interest in various thing, juice of sugar cane, durian, strange vegetables and confectionery and so on which we cannot see in Japan.
Malaysian country life is similar to Japanese 20-40 years ago style. Relatives and neighborhoods were preparing an announcement party in a crowd. They cut down some coconut trees which had been growing in the center of the garden. I consider that they do not have attachment in trees so much. Two nests of humming bird was found from fallen branches and in one of them a baby bird was still living. My father got empty one as a souvenir, and has attached it in the garden of his house in Japan. I expect that somebody uses it.
Brothers, sisters, and cousins had already gathered in the house. It crowded as same as Japanese summer vacation. Women have applied the muddy thing which boiled down particular leaves to her fingertips. A deep-black pack dyes skin and nail skillfully red after 1-2 hours. This traditional ceremony is called "Inai ". It seems that mincing the marriage proof on her body keeps away from other men courting. Actually, although its color on the skin disappears among several weeks, since it on nails never disappear and we must wait to grow up. Hanisah gave it to her all fingertips, both palms and side of legs. The circle on palm means the moon. To share her happiness, single ladies also made it to one hand only. Furthermore, I also did it to my little and third and middle fingers. Later in Japan I repented them, hence the mincing like a manicure and wedding ring made me an amorous person for several months. The big brother was afraid raining. "If tomorrow is rain, visitors not gather. Almost everything will become fruitless efforts. " Unfortunately, in the midnight it begun to rain. The roof of the more simple house was struck by intense rain drops. Over the mountain we could see lightning with big thunders. We had not finished yet the marriage ceremony and an announcement party also differed with heavy rain? How miserable were we? - But in Malaysia, an anxious thing does not fit us. When I got up, it had stopped raining frankly.
In the announcement party's morning, behind the house disassembling of cows began for curry as main dish. Seven men griped cows' reins and pray. Although I did not disassemble, I joined them for praying. Around there, ladies and children were watching. Each cows was bound their legs on two coconut trees, pushed down, cut head artery and dead. I did not feel cruel because it was same as disassembling of fish. Survival knives and rasps are used. I never seen the inside of cow with live before, but as the textbook, partitions attached the stomach of a cow and separated it into four parts. Big bellies of a cow were all stomach. When I touched it, it was like a vinyl envelope within cushion, but warm like us. Lungs and intestines blocked in the back of the bone of a breast and waist. The size of a heart was almost the same size as my fist. After the skin separated, taken meat was hashed and became very nice curry for today's visitors.
We went out to Sg.Petani for preparations. It is almost noon when we returned and there were already many visitors coming to the home. Men felt at ease on the special-establishment table in the garden, and inside of the house was filled with ladies who dressed up astringent and colorfully with her children. Since some visitors besides a window of the room looked here rarely, our spare clothing was a little serious. Her yellow wedding dress were gorgeous and nice while mine was like a pajama (T_T). " Why did not you recommend me more showy one? ", I said, but her answer was " it is your problem " with the cool face. I am frequently troubled on such her noninterference principle. A traditional hat was still disagreeable since my head is a little big. Now, with watching a photo, I feel lowering the front of hat was more better. We had done anything a little excitedly with few composure. Preparations finish and it was an appearance of the new couple at last.
For today Hanisah's father made our room that its interior was gorgeously dressed up with yellow, the color of king. And many presents were on the bed: Bunga Telor, Malaysian traditional souvenir of wedding party for all visitors using an imitation flower and a boiled egg which had been made by our sisters and cousins yesterday. Young cousins also gave us a male's waist cloth and a female's one for praying each folded into nice shape. We brought many candies for children. Our friends, Taga and Chris brought us a glass set which bought in Yaohan, a Japanese shop in KL. And a handbag and watches which are presents for each other. etc., etc.
Kak Tie, Hanisah's elder sister, made our suit and dress using clothes chosen by ourselves in last January. Because I had felt Hanisah's one was too showy, I had selected same color without any texture, however the result was above.
I am not good at speaking Malay, but everybody asks handshaking. "Apa Khabar" - how do you do, "Terimakasih Banyak Banyak" - thank you very much, I greeted hundreds guests only using them. Sometimes I asked to Hanisah that who was the visitor, but her answer was "he/she may be even a relative probably, I do not know well ". Was it OK? Hanisah was busy at greeting to everybody, they were seeing us enviable and uniquely, and I could only follow her with smiling. Curry and Bunga Telor were served to all visitors. An international marriage ceremony was so rare in this area that a taxi driver who picked our friends up from Sg.Petani also knew us. Could he eat curry?
In sunset, visitors would decrease gradually. A hurried day elapses immediately. Since 500 or more pieces of Bunga Telor were gone, the total number of visitors would be about 1000. Later, I asked a big brother that why so many visitors joined to the party even though I and Hanisah have lived in Japan and few friend had been here. His answer was "because of two cows, if there were only 1 cow, 500 visitors would come ". Hum...? OK la, it was my happiest day!
When we reached Kedah State Registration Office again in early morning, the boss was eating a cake on his desk. His manner looked a little big even I could not understand their conversation. But since our both parents were together, we could get matrimonial permission easily.
Next step was just our marriage ceremony, the oath in a mosque. But still another problem was that priests of the mosque would not gather soon. We decided to carry out sight-seeing the river near sea, called Tanjong Dawai, before the marriage ceremony. Even a slight drive around there, we could meet many interesting and beautiful things: Many fruits such as pineapple, banana, mangosteen, rambutan, durian, and lyche - are growing wild. Scenery of vast rubber woods and farmlands is quite different from Japanese one. Hens, cows, buffaloes, goats, and sheep are walking and sleeping in the roadsides -- it is much more interesting than a tedious packed tour. Although it was my 3rd visiting, I could meet them again with fresh mind.
In the afternoon of the day, we went to mosque Pengkalan Kakap near home. Old Welsh-onion head made me feel a little hesitation for entering. "Can I worship collect ? ", "can I remember how to wash my body ", "can I... ". When I entered, a priest and two witnesses were waiting with their wives and children. The oath was performed in a cool opened corridor covered with hemp sheet near its entrance. Our circumstance was explained by Hanisah's father followed by priest's some questions to Hanisah. And in order to teach the way of the oath, he talked to me through Hanisah's interpreting, "repeat my talking. " We said 30 or more Arabian words for practice which are rewrote any longer. "Then, you must repeat them again with yourself "; Wow, I already forgot them, they were too long to memory at once. In confusion, quickly I made a memorandum written in Japanese katakana character for easy reading. Just a take again. He took an oath at first grasping my hand. After his signal, I read the memorandum straight-away. After silence for a while - he nodded with two witnesses - they admitted my oath! We had just married!! I signed the Arabic certificate with kanji. A marriage ceremony was completed. It was only for less 1 hour. But, very long time was passed in my mind. We said acknowledgment to them many times, and left the mosque.
Aku terima nikahnya bagi diri aku.
Now, only one phrase of the oath has remained. This meant is that I will accept this marriage for myself.
