Chorus: We are the Champions ...we are the champions..... ta.. ta.. ta.. ta.. ta.. ta.. ta. ta ta.. ta ...
Six of us came to Iowa State University with one goal: To win the Midwest Games Basketball event. Though six of us suffered some injuries, nothing can stop us!
Siang Full was the best point guard in the tournament; Simon, as the shooting guard, was the MVP of the basketball event. The other four of us have done real good job of keeping our pace of winning.
No regrets! First, we were selected to play in group D. The opponents are University of Illinois and Western Michigan University. And, as everything were in our plan, we won both university's Malaysian basketball team by 95-21 and 25-14: Advances to Quarterfinal.
In the quarterfinals, we beat University of Indiana Bloomington 52-23. Simon has seven 3 pointers. Wing Kin doing his offensive rebound, Siang Full doing some scoring drive and I blocked 5 shots. Way to the semifinal.
It was a struggle in the semifinal:- facing Western Michigan University again. The disadvantage of playing with WMU was they have more than 10 players and we have only 5 players (no substitute because Siang Wooi twisted his left knee in the quarterfinals). We managed to beat them in a 3 point margin... huuuuuu...a game that brought us to the final. 30-27.
The Midwest Games 1996 basketball final was between us and Missouri Rolla students. We pressured them at the beginning of the game till the end, giving a 13 point margin victory.....30-17. What a game. We were so tired but happy that we won this tournament. ..
....
Goal Achieved!
