Kappa Rapoasa. Not very powerful, not very deadly, certainly not very funny, but one of the nice guys in GRIT. He is always available for small tasks, as a messenger, and likes helping out others, as he happens to like doing that sort of thing.
Kappa was born in the Ginza district of Tokyo, and is a very experienced world traveler. As the son of Japan's Minister to France, Kappa lived in Europe and thus has a great deal of knowledge of Western culture. He was kicked out of a private ballet school at the age of 12 in Singapore and left his home in disgrace to become a runaway. Adapting to Singapore's urban sprawl, Kappa relied on his budding dance and musical skills to survive, as a performance artist. He also toiled for four years under a destitute, rather hentai master of Martial Arts Dancing, and trained to develop phenomenal dexterity and acrobatic skill.
One day, as he was passing out fliers in a club, he heard the hard sounds of a different DJ who was spinning INCREDIBLY hard acid disco. In his head he said the words "I would give just about anything to be able to be the best at THAT". This remark did not go unnoticed.
A passing Infernal Lawyer on the Ethereal was so distracted by Kappa's intense desire that he stopped and swiped a part of Kappa's soul, though he also thought "ehh, that's not such a big wish, I can handle it". Smiling, the somewhat incompetent demon fled to his masters.
In the weeks to come, Kappa found a newfound inclination to music, quickly surpassing the skill of even his sensei. He worked hard on practicing and mastering the skills necessary to be a world class vinyl jockey, and gained local fame, scoring bookings for parties and raves throughout the globe. He was also granted another talent by the Infernal, and that was his singing skill.
Lying fallow for years, Kappa's voice was a ray of moonlight in the night, and could motivate masses to do his will. This capacity was generally ignored by Kappa in his MCing stints, as he chalked it up to his skill. But in actuality it was his voice, in conjunction with the music, that was a hidden potentiality with the power to move the masses for personal gain.
After MCing one night, Kappa was approached by a group of drunk Japanese record executives and asked to sign onto their company as a corporate idol singer. (You probably know the type.. Date Kyoto, etc). Seeing a chance to finally get enough cash to set himself up for like, Kappa went for it. After a period of mass media marketing, Kappa's identity of Koka Isit was generally hated and disgusted. His videos, for some reason (infernal, to be precise_ , set off sales of soft drinks in Japan by 500 percent for a short period, however.
Since his 'career' as a singer was over, Kappa decided to return to his old lifestyle, that of a traveling DJ. He hated the notoriety and the fact that most people would physically assault him if he sang. So he looked for a relatively urban place with low property values... and thus came to Nerima...
Kappa now works odd jobs, mostly as a messenger, delivery runner, and a "candy striper"
(even though he's male) as well as DJing. He resides in a closet in Maison Psychokku (his
futon is on top of a giant speaker) and is looking to return to his study of martial arts,
as well as having a generally good time. Due to a court case, he also is an
educator at GNIT, teaching Drama. However, his skills in teaching are somewhat limited. Recently he was sent dreams by
Gaeld, a magician of unknown intent who implanted in his subconscious the steps to a portal opening ritual to
the recently sealed Turnip Keep.
In more recent dates, his contract with the Infernal recently came due. Recently possessed, he went on the rampage, attacking Scott Schimmel at Zuni's. He has a budding rivalry with Jei Heavensrun, who he regards as a friendly fellow musician who he just happens to habitually annoy to the point of being knocked out. Seeking better knowledge of the martial arts, he became a student of Ginseng. Restless, he went to Korea with a number of other GRIT people and assisted in confronting the demon Envy.
