Gwen paced slowly up the walk way. How could he just leave
her? Sure they had only been together for 2 months, but she knew, she was in
love with Hank Bennett. She kicked a rock as she walked by the park. His kiss,
it was all she had ever wanted, he had been the one who told her she could get
over Ethan. "Move on Gwen, he’s a boy child’ He’d laugh . "You
need the real thing, a TRUE Bennett man." He’d say with one of his killer
smiles. So why when things started going so good, did Hank tell her it was over?
Call it quits like she meant nothing to him?
The night wind hit Gwen as she got to her
destination. The Third park bench near the old oak, that was of course where she
and Hank first began talking. She smiled as she saw the tall figure sitting on
the bench, his head hanging and his hand’s in his hair.
"Hank. I knew you’d be here." Gwen said walking closer to him.
Hank jumped up from the bench, his eyes growing large. "Gwen why are you
here?" He asked.
"I told you already Hank, you can’t run from me. We have to talk."
"No. I said it was over just leave it at that!" He yelled.
Gwen shook her head, "I have called you everyday this week, Hank Bennett,
you’re going to tell me why you dumped me, and your going to tell me
now." She said staring him in the eye.
Hank swallowed, never before had he saw a woman like Gwen, so strong and
determined. "We are wrong for each other. ": He insisted turning his
head.
Gwen bit her lip and took a deep breath, moving the auburn hair from her face.
He was lying, she knew Hank was lying to her. "Says who Hank?
You? Don’t I get a say? "She asked bluntly without budging.
"No. Don’t you get it? It would never work. Your this wonderful woman
from a family of everything, and what am I Gwen? Hank Bennett low life brother
of Sam Bennett. Go find some rich hot shot and just leave me alone." Hank
spit out, feeling his whole body ache with the words.
Gwen lowered her head and looked at the ground for a moment, the looked back up
at Hank, Stepping up to him, her tiny frame standing right in front of his tall
form. "It’s not going to be that easy Bennett. I love you! It’s only
took me 2 months to figure out that I am totally in love with you. Do you think
I care about where I came from? If I wanted some guy like my father, someone who
only cares about money and business, I’d get one. But No, I want you!"
She yelled into his face, with such fury Hank’s head dropped.
"You deserve better Gwen. You deserve so much better." He muttered his
head still staring at his feet.
Gwen let out a tense laugh, and grabbed Hank’s chin, "Look at me Hank
Bennett." She instructed, as he looked deep in her eyes, " I deserve
you Hank! You! I deserve to be happy, with the man I love, to feel my heart
pound when he walks in the room, and no one can do that for me but you. Got
that?" She asked.
Hank looked at her with sadden eyes. "I can never be what you need Gwen.
Never. I don’t deserve you. "
Gwen crossed her arms, "Hank Bennett do you care about me?" She asked.
As he looked down at her strangely. "Well do you?" She repeated.
"Of course Gwen. I, I " He started then stopped.
"You what Hank?" She demanded.
"I love you. That’s why I have to let you go." He whispered.
Gwen let out a laugh. "Hank, you can’t let me go, if I don’t want to be
let go of. And baby all I want is to be with you. "
"But I can never be rich. The things I’ve done in my life," He
began.
"The things you’ve done? Oh Hank, you know what I done to try to keep
Ethan. How dirty I was willing to play, lying and scheming, so whatever you do,
don’t bring up your mistakes. We are changed people now right?" She
asked.
Hank nodded, "Of course but. Still."
"But still nothing Hank Bennett. I want to be with you, you want to be with
me. So will you stop playing these games with me?" Gwen asked.
Hank gave her a weak smile, "I’m sorry Gwen."
"You should be." She laughed.
"Well if you still want me, I’m willing to make it up to ya." He
suggested, taking her small hand into his.
"Hank Bennett will you stop talking long enough to kiss me?" Gwen
commanded.
"Yes ma’am." Hank said reaching down and picking up Gwen, as he
brought her into a deep kiss.
Letting go he looked at her and smiled, "Did I just confess my love to
you?" He asked a hint of red in his face.
"Yes. I believe you did." Gwen grinned.
"Guess that wasn’t the most romantic way to say it was it?" He said
shaking his head.
Gwen gave him a large smile, "You’ll make up for it don’t worry."
"I will? When?" He asked confused.
Gwen winked, "When you propose." She said giving in a small wave and
she turned and started walking off.
"Propose?" Hank asked as he watched Gwen walking away. "Gwen
wait, we need to talk about this, ." Hank yelled running to catch up with
the woman he loved.
