I've been getting a lot of fanfics in, and I've realized that people aren't submiting their fanfics in the form I want, so I've been forced to lay down some groundrules.
1. Please include the name of your fanfic in your title, and whether you wish to use 'parts', 'chapters', or 'acts' for your fanfic. If it's an one-shot (as in a single part with no sequel), please tell me. Please include what you wish to be called on the fanfic page (Your nickname aka handle will do, or your first name if you don't have one). I suggest making a handle for yourself that's not already taken. If you have a problem with creating one, then I can probably help you, but you must request my help first, and then I'll take it step-by-step in creation with you. :)
2. Include a small introduction to the fanfic. This
doesn't have to be any longer than one or two sentences long, but it will
allow someone to get a feel about the subject of your fanfic.. An example
could be:
"The children have found a deadened forest during their travels, and now
one by one each of them
are disappearing! Is this the end of the Chosen Children..?!"
Something like that... And please don't use that
plotline, because it's somewhat like a co-written fanfic I'm doing with
a friend. ^^; Note: You don't need to include a new little introduction
for each time you submit another part of your fanfic. Just once is enough,
unless you wish to include more.
3. Inform me whether you wish your e-mail to be given out. That way, I'll know whether you want comments on your fanfic, and I'll know your preference. Also include your addy in your e-mail message, just in case if you wish to use a different e-mail.
4. Tell me about what subject your fanfic is on, as in what series (Digimon, Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon, Samurai Troopers, etc), or if it's an original story. Also, if it's a crossover fanfic, please tell me what series.
5. If there is special formatting in your fanfic, please tell me. And if you have already done the special formating and can send attachments please change it into a webpage. Most versions of Microsoft Word are capable of this. If you follow this rule, then you're fanfic will be uploaded onto the webpage much, much faster. And I won't accidently screw the formatting up. (Believe me, with all the stuff going on in my life, my formatting is rather hurried.)
6. If there is Yaoi, violence (even mild), or the use of profane language, please inform me, so I can add on warnings. That way, you'll get less flames.
7. If you can, classify your fanfic into a category such as horror, adventure, humor, romance, death (as in it's main topic is concerned with a death/suicide of a character and the aftermath). If you can't, or you feel that categorizing it so might ruin the plotline, then that's okay. This is optional.
8. Inform me on your fanfic and that you wish to submit a fanfic before you submit it. The disk I store my e-mail on is getting filled slowly, and sending me a big fanfic could use up all the space, or make it so I can no longer check my e-mail. And believe me, that's not a way to make a good first impression... And while we're on that topic..
9. I SUGGEST MAKING A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION. I'm seriously offended by bad grammar, such as misspelled words, no use of punctuation, and no use of capitalization as well as other grammar mistakes. It's okay to spell a few words wrong in your introductory e-mail, such as the harder ones that get everyone, but not simple, everyday words. Read over it before you send your e-mail to me. That way, I'll be more inclined to host your fanfic. :) In otherwords, if you don't make a good impression, I just might not host your fanfic. You have a pretty good chance of me hosting it, so don't worry too much.
10. If you can, please include the amount of diskspace your fanfic uses. I have a few secret projects this summer that will make the Sailor Moon fans out there rather happy, so I need all the space I can get. :) Believe me, you'll want what I'm going to do if you're a Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon fan. Those of you that do know what I'm talking about... SHHH!
11. If you have any suggestions on how you think I should do the fanfic submission page, please e-mail me at the address provided at the bottom of the page. And please be courteous with the suggestions, such as don't send me flames. And remember, just because you have a suggestion, I don't have to use it, but if I do use it you'll get credit for the suggestion. Oh, and before anyone even suggests it, I play on making seperate pages for each of the series the fanfics consist of to make navigating my site easier.
12. Don't fight with the other authors, please. I don't want to be the referee. If you have a disagreement, then talk it out, don't flame each other. Fighting is just childish and degrading to the opinions others have on you. That and if I get annoyed by bickering between two authors, then I might stop hosting one or both of your fanfics. This hasn't happened yet, but I'm working on prevention.
13. If you have any preference to what color you want your name to be on the webpage, tell me. LOL, just trying to keep everyone happy here.
14. Don't send fanfic submission or fanfic requests to my geocities or yahoo accounts. I can't guarrentee that I'll receive the submission of you do. There has been lots of mergers recently and yahoo has been known to delete messages when it's overloaded, and your fanfic just might be one of them. Please, it would save a lot of hassle if you follow this simple rule and send me your introduction and later your fanfic to the e-mail at the bottom of the page.
15. Don't insult Digimon or any of the other series I host fanfiction for. :) Otherwise, you could be the first person to be in my 'Replies to Flames' section. Hmm.. I gotta find that one from that one stupid idiot though.. Ah well.
16. Please, read through your fanfics before submiting them to me. I won't do spelling corrects in most cases, unless you're doing a co-written fanfic with me. I've just included this rule so you don't look like an idiot.
17. If you want to do a co-written fanfic with me, then you should wait until we know each other rather well. I'm currently doing multiple Digimon fanfics with friends (Three started, one ready to start) and one Samurai Troopers one with a friend. I've only done Samurai Troopers and Digimon, but I might be able to try a few others.. But don't ask about Gundam Wing, because I've only seen eight or so episodes of it, and a co-written fanfic would be disasterous. (I consider Co-written fanfics to be the best in many occasions, and I'll happily host them. Picking only your best characters to Role-play, while the other person picks their best tends to increase the overall quality of your fanfic. Besides, they're a lot more fun than writing fanfics on your own. :)
18. Remember the one megabyte rule.. A single story cannot be over 1 meg of space. This way, no one's hogging all the space.
19. This isn't a rule, but just a random bit of information. The only reason that I still have this website on Geocities is because of AOL. Their parental guidelines suck. You can't see any of the sites that you should be able to see besides the ones on Geocities basically. ^^; So I'm staying here for that sole reason alone. I have friends on AOL's parental guidelines, and I want them to be able to visit my webpage.
22. The fanfics can be about the following series(in no particular order): Sailor Moon, Ronin Warriors, Dragon Ball (Z), The Slayers, Mega Man (X), Beast Wars, Beast Machines (even though Beast Wars is tons better...), Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy (any series), Captain N and the Video Game Master (Am I the only one that has seen that show?!), The Legend of Zelda (Any of the games), Star Fox (64), Secret of Mana, Digimon, Pokemon (*Hears faint screams* OH SHUT UP!), Mighty Ducks the Animated Series, Cyber 9: New Dawn, Monster Rancher, Titan AE, Magic Knight Rayearth, Harry Potter, Martian Successor Nadesico, Bubblegum Crisis (2040), Card Captor Sakura, Blue Submarine No. 6, and a whole bunch more that I can't remember at the moment.............. *Thinks* I'll add on more as I come up with them. ^^
21. If I can think of any more rules, then I'll put them up. And on a final note, no submissions to the parts of the webpage that are closed please, because I won't accept them. If you do, then I'll consider you to be a tad on the 'clueless' side.
If you have a fanfic submission, any questions, or any suggestions, please e-mail me at icelightning@pcweenie.com .
