The Ninja

Ninja were the spies, thieves, and assassins of Feudal Japan. Ninja practice Ninjutsu, a style of martial arts developed and used almost exclusively by ninja. A ninja must be a master of camouflage techniques. A well trained ninja can go undetected in an empty room of and open field. They are masters of deception, espionage, and assassination. Ninja rank among the most misunderstood organizations in the world.

It is popularly thought that true ninja no longer exist. The arts of Ninjutsu have been simplified to their base forms. Modern ninjutsu is commonly nothing but the basic fighting styles and weapon techniques once taught by the more well known ninja clans. Poisoning, trap setting, and camouflage techniques are rarely taught as part of ninjutsu training. However, it has not been proven that the ninja is extinct. In fact many people believe that there are still ninja clans who remain true to their roots. Secret groups of men and women gathering in shadowed alleys, secluded forest headquarters, and corporate boardrooms. Keeping the Japanese arts of espionage and (rarely) assassination very much alive.
