For many years now, Japanese culture has had an unexplainable hold over me. I have been fascinated by the weapons and fighting techniques of Japan for as long as I can remember. Even now, I consider myself to be a modern day samurai. However, I do not carry a sword (one reason is because it is illegal to carry a sword in the United States unless you are a certified martial arts instructor). The main reason I do not even own a sword is because I do not feel that I am yet worthy of the honor. I have not yet earned my right to possess the katana and wakizashi which is the badge of a samurai. Until that time, I will continue my training and improve my skills. One day I will be worthy of the honor. Then, and only then, will I be able to truly be called a samurai.
