I magine 1.7 acres of land in front of your house - that
would be a huge garden, wouldn't it? Well, this is our garden.
We call it simply "our experimental garden".
For the last few years we have tried to create a nice garden out of this piece of land. We
are aware of immeasurable possibilities to be creative in every possible way. So far we
have divided our garden into four different parts. Firstly, there is our kitchen garden
where we grow plenty of our vegetables. Then there's a hanging garden
with all kinds of
different fruit trees. And the last two parts are not divided along clear lines. There you
can find all kinds of totally different plants growing harmoniously together. So, on one
side you could see a beautiful rose in full blossom and just next to her there would be a
huge bamboo towering high above all
other plants. We call this part of our garden - the wild garden. In our experimenting with
gardening we try to implement many ideas springing from Bill Mollison's permaculture
and at the same time combine them with Masanobu Fukuoka's The Road Back to Nature.
The whole project gives us also a great opportunity to practice awareness - it's a kind of
meditation in everyday life. Let me conclude this site with some words of
Fukuoka...
