The Dark Kingdom is the enemy, and it is lead by a woman named Queen Beryl; she wants energy to revive her master, Metallia. She uses 1 of her 4 generals, Jadeite, and tells him to find some energy. He, in turn, sends youma (demons/monsters) to gather energy from humans. Because of this, the soldier of justice, Sailormoon, is born. Her name: Tsukino Usagi, a 14 year old, eighth grade student at Juuban Junior High. A magical black talking cat named Luna is the one that gives Usagi her transformation brooch. Usagi's a bit of a crybaby, and a bit of a wimp; so, most of the time, a man who calls himself Tuxedo Kamen (Tuxedo Mask) has to save her during the various battles with youma. (Tuxedo Kamen's 'real life' identity is Chiba Mamoru) After a little bit, a girl by the name of Mizuno Ami transfers to Juuban, and that very smart, very shy girl becomes Sailormercury, the soldier of water. The two girls keep thwarting Jadeite's energy collecting plans, and Beryl gets angrier and angrier w/ Jadeite. Not too long afterwards, a girl named Hino Rei, a Shinto priestess-in-training at Hikawa Shrine, joins them as the senshi Sailormars, the soldier of fire. They manage to defeat Jadeite in a major battle, and when he goes back to Queen Beryl, she is so angry she freezes him in eternal sleep--even though he had learned the real identities of the three girls.... Nephrite takes over Jadeite's job of energy collection. It's during this part when Mamoru's dreams of a Lady are shown--in his dreams, a Lady calls to him and tells him that he has to find something called the ginzuishou so she'll be free and he'll remember who he is. A twist on the plot is that Nephrite falls in love with Usagi's best friend, Osaka Naru. Nephrite uses Naru's crush on him to make Naru help him, and he always denies that he likes her, but in the end, he shows that he loves Naru by risking (and sacrificing!) his life to save her..... Zoisite, another of Beryl's generals, is Nephrite's killer; he killed Nephrite because he wanted Nephrite's black crystal. Zoisite thought the crystal could tell him where the nijizuishou (rainbow crystal[s]) were being kept. The nijizuishou are the 7 pieces of the ginzuishou--the ginzuishou broke up when it was sent out into space. Queen Beryl wants the ginzuishou, so she gives Zoisite another black crystal that can tell Zoisite where the nijizuishou are. So Zoisite goes out and gets the nijizuishou, and when he tries to get the first one, that's when Kino Makoto appears as the soldier of electricity, Sailorjupiter. Luna tells the senshi that now their goal to get the all of the nijizuishou, so they can get the ginzuishou before the Dark Kingdom does. Luna says the senshi need to get to the ginzuishou to awaken the Moon Princess, who can use the ginzuishou to defeat the Dark Kingdom for good. In the end, Zoisite ends up with 4, Tuxedo Kamen ends up with 3, and Sailormoon has 1. Then Zoisite tricks Sailormoon into giving her nijizuishou up; and after that, Zoisite and his boyfriend, Kunzite (the most powerful of the four generals) make up a trap for the four senshi. The four senshi get caught and Tuxedo Kamen gets hurt, so Zoisite and Kunzite tell Tuxedo Kamen if he gives up his nijizuishou, they'll let the senshi go. Then a girl frees the senshi--it's SailorV! (SailorV is this famous senshi that went around saving people and stopping criminals, and quite popular.) A white cat who Luna recognizes as Artemis emerges from the shadows and says that SailorV is just plain Sailorvenus, soldier of light and heat. Zoisite and Kunzite retreat, and Tuxedo Kamen slips off back to his apartment. The five senshi gather around and say how nice it is to finally meet each other, and Sailormoon asks Sailorvenus if she's the Moon Princess they've been looking for. Sailorvenus tells them no, that she's just a normal senshi like them--her regular identity is Aino Minako. Tuxedo Kamen, as Mamoru, is sitting in his apartment, nursing his hurt shoulder when Zoisite appears on his TV screen and challenges him to a duel--the winner will keep all of the nijizuishou forever. Mamoru agrees, and Zoisite tells Mamoru to meet him at the Starlight Tower. Mamoru agrees, and Zoisite disappears. Meanwhile, Usagi is trying to get to a senshi meeting at the Hikawa Shrine, but she's late as usual. She runs into Mamoru, and discovers he's hurt. After following him around for awhile, they're both sudden captured in a bubble and transported to the Starlight Tower. Inside, Usagi is unconscious from being transported, and Mamoru is tricked into putting is nijizuishou down...where Kunzite picks them up and disappears! Mamoru gets mad and throws a rose at Zoisite, striking his face. Zoisite gets mad, and tries to kill Mamoru and the now-awakening Usagi. They run to an elevator, which begins to go up to the top floor. While they are waiting, Usagi asks Mamoru why he wants the nijizuishou--and Mamoru tells Usagi about how he needs the nijizuishou to get the ginzuishou. He also tells Usagi that he needs the ginzuishou because he can't remember who he is--he's been an orphan since 6, after he lost his family after a bad car crash. He then tells Usagi about his dreams of a princess that tells him the ginzuishou will help him remember who he really is. The other senshi are now in front of the Starlight Tower, trying to figure out a way to get inside. Sailorjupiter finally just blasts a door open, and they rush inside. As they rush up the stairs, Kunzite turns off all the lights in Tokyo, and makes Starlight Tower a Dark Kingdom hideout. By now, Usagi and Mamoru are almost at the top. Zoisite wants to kill Mamoru, and so he sends a fireball down the elevator shaft. Usagi panics for a minute, not sure if she wants to reveal to Mamoru that she's Sailormoon, then she transforms anyway--better alive and her identity out in the open than dead and no identity at all. A huge explosion ensues only seconds later, and Zoisite thinks Usagi & Mamoru are dead, so he walks away. A voice suddenly yells out at Zoisite, and Zoisite spins back around, only mildy surprised that Sailormoon and Mamoru have survived. He plays a little game of words with Sailormoon, and casually mentions Tuxedo Kamen is around. Sailormoon hotly denies it, but then, to her shock and chargin, Mamoru turns into Tuxedo Kamen. [*^^*] Tuxedo Kamen tells Sailormoon to let him fight, so she reluctantly moves aside..... Zoisite sees his chance, and, while distracting Tux Kamen by talking, silently summons a crystal shard from and sends it to tearing through the air to stab Sailormoon through the back, thinking he's finally rid the Dark Kingdom of such a pest.... Sailormoon realizes something's coming at her, but it's already too late.... ....and suddenly, Tuxedo Kamen has fallen, for he has taken the crystal shard meant for her. Screaming, crying out his name, Sailormoon rushes to his side, begging him to hang on, pleading for him to not die. The senshi, plus Luna and Artemis, appear at the scene, not knowing what's going on.... One tear out of many slips down Sailormoon's cheek as she sobs over Mamoru, and glitters brightly.....and in another part of the Starlight Tower, where Kunzite is keeping an eye on the nijizuishou.....the nijizuishou suddenly float up and fly away from him! The rainbow crystals fly to Sailormoon, and come together to form the the fabled ginzuishou. The Mood Stick, one of Sailormoon's weapons, appears, and the ginzuishou rests itself inside the crescent part of the Stick. Everyone's still watching in shock, even Zoisite, and then Sailormoon gets to her feet, in a trance-like state--her eyes are blank and unseeing. A pink light surrounding her, she is slowly spun around in a circle by some force, and as she does, her fuku (her uniform) lengthens into a creamy white gown; her tiara is replaced by a crescent moon symbol... In the background, the cats and the rest of the senshi STILL don't know what's going on... Then, Luna remembers. This is the Moon Princess, Princess Serenity, that they've been looking for! [and this shocks everyone ; ) ] Princess Serenity kneels, and puts Tuxedo Kamen's head in her lap, calling him Prince Endymion. Together, they remember that they were a couple all that time ago.....then Serenity changes back to Sailormoon and collapses. After that, there's a brief scuffle, and Tuxedo Kamen is abducted. Queen Beryl (who apparently liked/likes Mamoru a LOT...) gets mad at Zoisite for trying to kill him, and she kills Zoisite. Then she tells Kunzite to get the ginzuishou, and he goes out to find the senshi and carry out his orders. By this time, the senshi are trying to find a way out.....and then Sailormoon wakes up and looks for Tuxedo Kamen. Not finding him, she asks if he's dead. Mars answers that he isn't, but the Dark Kingdom got him; Sailormoon gets very upset and depressed. Artemis speaks up then, and says that he and Luna will tell them what's going on and what happened. He tells them that a long time ago, there was a prosperous kingdom on the moon called Silver Millennium. They had all lived there, with Usagi as Princess Serenity and the rest of the girls as her senshi guardians. Then evil forces from earth came, trying to steal the ginzuishou.....but Queen Serenity used the ginzuishou to seal the evil forces away. They were all reborn, but they had to become senshi again when the evil force got free. After hearing this, Sailormoon said she didn't want to fight because it was too sad, and Sailormars gets mad and slaps her, saying that Sailormoon is a wimp. Sailormoon agrees, and murmurs that that she wished that she could be strong as Sailormars. The other senshi try to calm the two girls down when Kunzite appears. There's a fight, and finally it boils down to a confrontation between Kunzite and Sailormoon, and she uses the ginzuishou for the first time--and she kicks Kunzite's butt. After that, the Dark Kingdom keeps trying to trick Sailormoon into giving them the ginzuishou. The senshi's mission is clear--destroy Beryl and her base, and get back Mamoru, who's been brainwashed into being evil. When Kunzite finally confronts the senshi once more, manages to injures the two cats and almost steals the Moon Stick... However, when he tries to touch it, the Moon Stick whips around so the handle smacks him, and lets out a burst of pink light. The senshi are transported to the moon, where they relive the last few days of the Silver Millennium, and the part when Beryl and Metallia attacked. After seeing how her mother died, Sailormoon understands what she has to do, and when they return from the moon and battle Kunzite, Sailormoon summons enough strength to kill Kunzite. As the senshi wait for Artemis and Luna to get better, the senshi prepare themselves for their final confrontation with Beryl at her base, which the cats have discovered is at the North Pole. They use the "sailor teleport" to get there, and along the way to the smoking portal that leads into the Dark Kingdom, the senshi are attacked by five youma. The youma first make their presense known by trying to trick Sailormoon--they show her an illusion of Tuxedo Kamen to lure her in, and the naive Sailormoon falls for it... luckily, the other girls know it's a trap. (still, when they youma try it again, Sailormoon falls for it again ^.^) Then they trick Sailorjupiter with an illusion of Motoki....and capture her in their vine-arms. Defiantly, despite the pain they extract from her, Jupiter manages to invoke her "Supreme Thunder" and kill two of the youma. With her last ounce of strength, she tells Sailormoon to cheer up, and to get Beryl...then she dies. The princess, however does not care about Beryl anymore. They can have the ginzuishou!, she screams. Mako-chan is dead. That is all that matters to Sailormoon. One of her dearest friends is dead. After a sharp slap from Mercury, Sailormoon stops her ranting....only to have the youma near them again. Mercury convinces the rest of them to go on while she distracts them, since she can't really fight that well. The youma get closer, and try to trick Mercury with an illusion of Urawa-kun, but Mercury with her computer knows it's a trick, and ignores it. So, figuring that if you can't fool 'em, fry 'em, the youma join their powers and form a huge ball of fire.... Mercury does some computations, figures out it feels like a fireball, but it's really not...that they're using an illusion stone. She invokes her "Shabon Spray" to shield her from the heat as the fireball descends, and ends up in the middle of the ball of death.... The youma capture her, and blast her repeatedly....the screams last for a long time. They pause for a moment, and in that time, Mercury uses her last bit of strength to smash her computer into the illusion stone before dying.... Sailormoon senses that Mercury has died, and starts to pound on the ground, saying that Mars and Venus have no hearts. Mars snaps that she's too soft, that it'll get worse from here on.... The ground turns red under Sailormoon, and Venus just manages to push Moon out of the way before a huge vine shoots up from underground, capturing a helpless Venus, then sucks Venus underground, where she is confronted by a youma and tortured. Struggling against them and the pain, Venus uses her "Crescent Beam" attack and kills the youma at point-blank range--and also killing herself Sailormoon is entirely broken by now. Almost all of her friends are gone, except for Sailormars. The last two youma are hovering around, and Mars tells Moon it's okay, she's the strongest, she can win. Laughing, Mars moves off, leaving a stunned and still shocked Sailormoon, who can only watch what is to happen next... Mars prepares herself, but before she can use her "Fire Soul" attack, the two youma dive underground....then cause the ice beneath her feet to crumble into blocks as it reaches up to swallow her....the youma trap Mars in an ice mountain, and as soon as they do, one of the youma breaks free and dives to slaughter a paralyzed and dumbfounded Sailormoon.... ....but the youma forgot the protectiveness of Mars: a "Fire Soul" tears out of the mountain, incinerating the youma as it explodes outward. The last youma attacks Mars inside the mountain, and for a long time, the screams echo from within.... The ice mountain finally explodes, and the last youma is holding Mars's battered body in her vine arms; the youma begins to put Mars down as she rises up into the air for her assault against Moon.... .....and is suddenly stopped as Mars grabs the vines tightly. Tightly, with a defiant, angry spark in her eyes, Mars beings a shaky whisper that ends in a triumphant shout, "Fire....SOUL!!!!!" More snow is tossed about, and forms a crystalline grave for Mars. Smiling faintly, her mission accomplished--keep the princess protected and safe--Mars whispers a few last words to her friend, and then dies. Sailormoon sits on a snow bluff, still shocked. Everyone's gone...... Their spirits come to her then, and encourage her to get going, so that she can save Endymion and beat Beryl. Sailormoon, heartened by this, gets up and runs to the smoking portal....and Beryl snatches her from outside. To make it worse for Sailormoon, Beryl has Endymion, still consumed with Dark Energy, be the one to torture the young senshi. The torture lasts for a long time, with Sailormoon continually pleading for Mamoru-san to please come back, to please be normal... It is not until Sailormoon, having been thrown to the floor, nearby the Moon Stick she had dropped earlier, barely able to move, finally summons the strength to finish the mission the senshi had come to accomplish... Beryl mocks the senshi's efforts, saying that it was all in vain.... Endymion raises his sword to kill the prone Sailormoon... And Sailormoon flings her tiara directly into his gut. Endymion falls gasping to the floor, greatly injured, but the dark energy within him forces him up.... all the while, he tells Sailormoon to die. "Stop," she pleads, but he does not hear her. "Stop," she pleads again, this time louder. Endymion flings up his sword, screaming, "DIE!!!" "STOP!!!!!!" Sailormoon screams in answer, her voice echoing through the dark cavern. Please, she begs, holding out her little star locket, the tiny little music box they had shared once before as a symbol of their love. It is a love that stretches far beyond normal memory, a love she does not understand, but one that has led her into this hell to try and rescue him. Please remember, she begs. I won't...I will not...fight you, she tells him. Please remember. Slowly, as if he cannot help himself, Endymion touches the golden locket, and in a burst of light, a deluge of memories flood him. Inside his mind, he, as a child, cries out that he's alone, he can't remember a thing.... And Usagi whispers to him, "You're not alone. You're not alone; I'm here." The light fades, a red rose falls, and Mamoru--not Endymion of the Dark Kingdom--falls to his knees as Sailormoon hovers over him, hoping against hope.... "Thank you, Usagi," he manages, and Sailormoon crushes him in a hug. He is back. It worked. Beryl, furious, hurls a huge black crystal spear at them; Mamoru shatters the crystal with a rose as he shields Sailormoon from the wayward shards....the rose tears into Beryl's chest, and the strong magic within it begins to rip Beryl apart from within, and so she retreats to Metallia for more power.... .....but three large crystal shards have slammed into Mamoru's back as well. With his last shaky breaths, he tells Sailormoon to hurry and leave, and to find herself a wonderful boyfriend. Tears in her eyes, Sailormoon tells Mamoru he's the number one guy, that he's the one she wants....he smiles briefly at her, then dies... Fighting with herself, Sailormoon forces herself not to kiss Mamoru out of respect for the other girls...they never got to kiss the ones they loved before dying. Smiling bravely, she rises to her feet and leaves the crumbling cavern. Beryl has gone to Metallia, asking for help, and Metallia gloatingly agrees, saying it's time for her to emerge, and she takes over Beryl's body. Outside, in the bitter cold of the north pole, Beryl-Metallia exhaults in her power, now ten times the size Beryl once was. A lone figure approaches. Sensing who it is, Beryl-Metallia snarls and hurles a blast of energy at the snow, hoping to trap Sailormoon in an icy tomb...but the top of the column bursts open, revealing Princess Serenity, the Moon Stick with the ginzuishou in her hands. Back in Tokyo, the lights are flickering out fast, and on the roof of Usagi's house, Luna and Artemis are worried. Artemis says that Metallia is free...Luna, unable to stand it any longer, tries to go to where the senshi were.....but Artemis stops her, saying there's nothing they can do. Luna, anguished, cries out that she knows, but if Usagi-chan uses the full power of the ginzuishou to defeat Metallia, Usagi-chan will DIE..... Tearfully, Luna has begs Usagi not to do it, not to die. Serenity's eyes snap open, and as she lifts her wand, sparkling with power, into the air, Beryl-Metallia attacks first, throwing a crackling stream of dark energy at the tiny white figure upon the ice dais. Princess Serenity, unafraid, activates the power of the ginzuishou, and the two powers of light and dark crash into each other several moments. As the moments pass, Beryl-Metallia mocks Serenity's values, her cherished hopes, and Serenity spiritedly returns she'd die to see that those things are protected.... But Serenity is still not strong enough....the bubble of power shrinks around her as the battle wears on....Beryl-Metallia just laughs and intensifies her attack, and, unable to handle it all alone, Serenity pleads for help, begs the others to come to her and help... The spirits of the other senshi appear, overlapping their hands over Serenity's, and they lend their powers to her ("Mercury Power!" "Mars Power!" "Jupiter Power!" "Venus Power!"), and Serenity adds her voice to theirs, yelling, "Moon Prism Power!"; all their powers combine, forming a huge pink ball of energy....the Moon Stick shoots the ball out at Metallia, and it engulfs the screaming figure, disintegrating her easily.... The spirits of the other senshi fade away.....and Serenity fades back to Sailormoon as she collapses onto the hard, unforgiving ice. A whispered "Thank you, everyone" leaves her lips, and then, Sailormoon too dies. .....but the ball of light that the ginzuishou spat out, the energy that killed Beryl, begins to expand, first gathering Sailormoon's body into it, then Mamoru's..it stretches further and further out, taking in the senshi's bodies.... And in the voice over, Usagi's voice whispers that she wants to live like a normal girl, without any youma or powers or anything in her life.... Morning in the Tsukino household. Usagi wakes up with a scream, realizing that she's once again late for school. Out the door she zooms, the last thing her family hears is a "IDAKIMASU!!" (I'm leaving!!)... On she runs, and a big girl with a long brown ponytail beats her on the way to school as they both run to get to school on time.... they run past a girl in a Miko outfit, sweeping the outer courtyard of her Shinto temple.... past a girl with long blond hair waiting for a bus..... At school, a girl named Mizuno Ami is yet again has scored #1 on the latest test..... It is sad, Luna comments to Artemis as she watches all of this... the ginzuishou gave them a second chance at life, yet they do not remember each other nor the times they spent with each other. Artemis, in reply, says that it's okay...they're sure to meet again. Usagi has once again received a 30 on a test...."To heck with it!" she yells, crumples it into a ball, and tosses it over her shoulder.... ...only to hear someone say, "Hey, odango atama! That hurt!" Irritated, Usagi whirles around to face a tall, black-haired boy older than her. He slips off his shades, eyes the score, and says, "You should study more, odango atama." Usagi immediately snatches the paper out of his hand, shouts, "RUDE BOY!" and sticks out her tongue at him before whirling back around and marching off indignantly. Mamoru murmurs in the background, "Weird kid...." ....yet he still stares after her as she continues on down the street, as if he cannot draw his eyes away from this blonde girl... "Are you sure you should have done that?" Naru asks as she and Usagi continue to walk. "He could have been the boy of your dreams!" "Boy of my dreams? Ha!" Usagi scoffs. "I've already met the boy of my dreams!" "Really?" Naru asks, interested. "Yep!" Usagi replies. "In my dreams, a prince comes to save me whenever I'm in trouble! That's my dream!"
....Even though the five senshi (and Tuxedo Kamen) are dead, Tsukino Usagi, Mizuno Ami, Hino Rei, Kino Makoto, Aino Minako, and Chiba Mamoru all still have a chance at life. |
