I have affected by a big impact of western culture, this leads me to keen on
listening English songs and even though feel interested on their lyrics. My
flatmate, Sam, a western-minded Chinese person, who always introduces me
different kinds of English songs and broadens my horizon. This not only
improves my poor English, but also influences my view of western songs and
Hong Kong songs.I think Chinese lyric only writes something about love, but
the crucial point is that, most of the lyric are meaningless without special
meaning and just make the tone of the lyric can sing out fluently.
Nevertheless, repeating the similar lyric just make me feel bored to listen
no matter how good the lyric is. Moreover, Hong Kong songs used to copy
western pop music and then change the lyric into Chinese. For a person who
always living in western countries, while listen with a exactly melody but
with different language, I will feel sick on it. Most of the lyrics in Hong
Kong are produced as commercial purpose because the song producers want to
earn money and the atmosphere of Hong Kong music can only accept music that
is easy to sing in karaoke.Unlike in Hong Kong, western countries are not
used to sing karaoke, the singers don't need to produce any commercial
lyrics or at least they can produce variety of types of lyrics so as to
attract different kinds of people.

living in western countries, when I listen a song with a same tone but
different language, I will feel uncomfortable. Most of the lyrics in Hong
