Once Upon A LifeTime
These pages are promotional stationery sold at Comic World 5 before the production of Coronation Saaga.  They are also attached to the back of the existing book, printed on potpourri paper.

Chi-Kuai's facial outline is inked with my favorite T. Ishikawa G-pen. Only Tachikawa G-pen has the best control of thick & thin strokes.  On the contrary, the hair is inked with Zebra maru-pen, which has the best "SWASHHH" for the bangs on the forehead.  This kind of pen nib produces thinner lines than even the thinnest .13 Rotring pen, and tough enough to withstand long-term use.

The rest of Kuai's braid is inked with .18 Rotring. I use Rotring mostly for backgrounds and when perfectly even lines are required, in most cases, the hair; but also as a means of saving the wear & tear of pen nibs. One definitely should avoid Rotring for main characters, as the even flat lines of Rotring just can't bring the chracters to life.  B& w art is flat enough as it is.  Without the variance in outline width produced by pen nibs.

<= This sand pattern on Kuai's robe is Letratone #LT 304 at 20%.  It looks like a fine layer of airbrush spray and comes in 10% - 30%. It's one of my favorite tones, perfect for architecture, tree background, and shadows.

<= the sakura is the handiwork of Rotring.Using pen nibs would only add the trouble of constant dipping.
