July 9 - I survived summer camp. I was in charge of 15 to 26 year old girls. Not too bad of an experience. They thought I was cool and listened most of the time. I pretty much gave them reminders instead of orders. In the 4 days of camp I had 4 girls cry: 1 cried the first night because she didn't feel welcome I guess, 1 cried in the middle of class which I have no idea why but guessing something the instructor said hit a string in her, 1 cried because she thought some other girl was flirting with her boyfriend and the "flirting" girl cried because she got yelled at, and later on the one with the boyfriend cried because she was so sad that camp was almost over. Frustrating thing is that none of them talked to me about why they cried or what they'd like me to do about it... basically none of them opened up to me. But I guess why would you open up to a person that you've only known for a day or two and whom is an authoritative figure. *sigh* oh well, they seemed fine after they cried. I guess they just needed to let it out. At the end I thought I did such a horrible job since everyone was crying, but they all signed my yearbook saying I was the best counselor ever and they want me back next year. Go figure.
Made lots of friends. Learned more about Buddhism. Had free 3 meals a day (even if it's vegetarian). If they can throw in a bed, clean shower stalls, and A/C I'd even pay to do it again.

July 1 - last two weeks have been pretty uneventful. I was bored to tears. but I guess this past weekend made up for it. Mike and I shopped, played pool, ate Indian food, and went to the driving range to practice our swings. Oh, and he taught me how to drive stick. THAT was frustrating. It wasn't the clutch I had a problem with, it was the gas pedal. His gas pedal is much more sensitive than my car's. The wheels peel out when I press the gas, and I freak out when it does. =p
