Kurumi Teaches a Method of Dating

Aired:
Jun 1, 1987
Synopsis by:
George Robbert

Kyousuke is relaxing in his room when he's disturbed by a loud clatter. It's the twins. Manami says that they're changing wardrobes since summer is almost here. Suddenly there's a loud crash and a scream from her. Kyousuke runs into the room to find it a total mess. Kurumi wanted to re-arrange the room and used her powers. Unfortunately, it didn't go quite right. Manami tells her to put it back the way it was. Kyousuke tells her not to use her powers, but she does anyway. With great efficiency, Kurumi manages to put everything in the room back in order. She only has enough power left to keep Jingoro from leaving before collapsing, exhausted, on the bed. Kyousuke narrates that he had no idea of the trouble that Kurumi's using up all her power would cause.

Kyousuke and his sisters are out shopping. The twins are so intent talking about wallpaper that Kurumi bumps into an older boy. He scolds her at first, but this soon changes to interest. Inside a variety shop, the twins are taking their time choosing and enjoying the process. Kyousuke is exasperated at how long it takes girls to make up their minds.

Outside, he finds Yuusaku looking into a store window. His arrival embarrasses and angers Yuusaku. Kyousuke takes a look for himself and finds out why he was staring in the window; Hikaru and Madoka are inside shopping for swimsuits. Hikaru asks about one on a mannequin. Madoka replies that it looks good, ``but if your chest isn't big enough, you'll be miserable,'' which doesn't please Hikaru. Madoka picks one that she thinks might look good but, when she sees Kyousuke in the mirror, decides it doesn't. Hikaru is overjoyed to see him, and gets the idea that he can choose for them. Yuusaku has finally come in by this time, and asks if he can help choose too. He's so nervous that he breaks off the arm of the mannequin he's hiding behind. This conversation is interrupted by Manami, yelling for Kyousuke to ``come quick.''

A panicked Manami tells them that Kurumi was taken away by some stranger. Madoka says they better find her quickly so nothing bad happens to her. Kyousuke thinks that he doesn't have to worry about Kurumi being molested as much as about the other guy, until Manami reminds him that Kurumi used up all of her power this morning. Madoka, Hikaru and Yuusaku all offer to help. Komatsu and Hatta come up from nowhere offering as well. Manami relays the description that she was given. ``He had dirty looking sunglasses, a big mouth and pimples.'' The group splits up to look.

Kyousuke and Hikaru are searching in a video arcade where they find a guy who matches Manami's description. Kyousuke demands to know where he took Kurumi, upsetting the guy's game. The fellow is big, and is about to beat up Kyousuke, when Madoka comes up and stops him. He doesn't know Kurumi, but is very willing to help since these are Madoka's friends. He also tells the rest of the customers to go look.

Everyone is out looking. Kyousuke can't think of where to look, so he's just tagging along with Madoka and Hikaru. Madoka's friend returns with news where Kurumi was seen. Madoka suggests that she and Kyousuke should wait for more info and Hikaru go check out this lead. Hikaru runs off with Yuusaku going along to protect her. While they're waiting, Kyousuke apologizes for the trouble he's causing. Another lead comes in that Kurumi may be in `Lover's Forest'.

The two of them head off to check this out. The place is a park where lovers come to be together. They are stopped by a policeman. He tells them that this isn't a place for kids, and that he hasn't seen Kurumi. When Madoka asks if he's sure, he replies that he checks everyone who comes into the park, and suggests that this may just be a cover story and that they're really here on a date. An embarrassed Madoka denies this and drags Kyousuke off. Kyousuke thinks he'd like to tell off those folks that stared at her, but to him, ``her blushing face is so lovely.''

watching a tape on how to pick up women. A clerk comes over and kicks him out, ``Don't use the display machines for this.'' He returns to the restaurant where he left Kurumi. She greets him without even wiping her face. Jingoro, sitting on the chair next to her, thwarts the first advice of the tape. Still following it, he asks her if she would like something to drink. ``No,'' but she would like some more to eat. She orders up a huge amount, shocking the fellow.

Hikaru and Yuusaku are continuing to search. Hers comes up empty, but he finds a fellow wearing sunglasses. His inquiry gets him pounded and thrown across the street. Komatsu and Manami are searching the lake in the park from their boat. He seems more interested in getting her alone than in looking for Kurumi.

Back at the restaurant, Kurumi has finally finished. She hiccups, levitating all the china on the table, but the fellow is too busy adding up the bill on his calculator to notice. He suggests that they go ``somewhere else fun,'' and when she agrees, figures that the video really is working.

The guy from the video arcade apologizes to Madoka that there are no more leads for Kurumi. Kyousuke thanks him for his trouble, but is told that he's doing it for Madoka not him. She stops the guy before he can tell about the favor he's returning.

Kurumi and her `date' end up in the same park that Komatsu and Manami have been `searching' in. He's ready to make his move, but she's disappeared. She's watching Ushiko and Umao involved with each other on a nearby bench. The fellow drags her off saying, ``that's something you do, not watch,'' making her drop Jingoro in the process.

Kyousuke and Madoka have come here to search too. They're almost ready to give up and go to the police, when Jingoro shows up. They figure that Kurumi has to be nearby.

On the lake shore, the fellow finally tries to kiss Kurumi, and she screams. Everyone hears this. Kyousuke and Madoka run off in that direction. When Manami asks, Komatsu denies hearing it and makes his move on Manami. He's stopped by the guy flying through the air and splashing down next to their boat. Kyousuke and Madoka find Kurumi and determine that she's ok. Komatsu hauls the guy out of the water, mad at him for breaking up his chance, only to find out that it's his older brother.

Afterwards, everyone is standing on the shore. Kyousuke is surprised at the way things turned out, but still begins scolding Kurumi. Manami notices that she got her power back since this morning, which Kurumi attributes to all the food the guy bought her. Madoka is happy that everything turned out ok. Kyousuke is too and thinks that, at that time, Madoka looked great.

That evening, Kyousuke gets a call from Madoka. She tells him that Hikaru is at the Hospital, and that Yuusaku has been injured. Hikaru wants him there. They agree to meet there and both rush off. As Kyousuke and Madoka run down the hall, he thinks that it's been a busy day with many happenings. It turns out that Hikaru is fine, but Yuusaku is all bandaged up and in bed. She's feeding him strawberries, and he's thoroughly enjoying it. As soon as Kyousuke shows up, Hikaru stops paying any attention to him and he misses the last strawberry.
