My Pocket Watch Collection

Edward Howard was one of the original founders of the failed Boston Watch Company [which eventually became the American Waltham Watch Company], and when the original company folded inn 1857 he started his own company. At first, he completed and sold unfinished movements from the original company, but he soon began producing his own line of very distinct and innovative watches. In fact, Howard was the first company to produce stem wound watches in the United States. In 1902, the Howard name was sold to the Keystone Watch Case Co., which continued to produce pocket watches under that name for a number of years.

This watch is a Keystone Howard Series 11 "Railroad Chronometer". It is a size 16 with 21 jewels, is adjusted to temperature and 5 positions, and is stem wind and lever set. It is housed in an original Howard gold-filled swing out case. The watch has a serial number of 1312955, which dates it to about 1917.
