Chapter 11
Jupiter and Mars were surprised. Mercury had really changed since the last time they had seen her. She was dancing with a Lord of a constellation they couldn't remember, smiling and talking with him. Her eyes sparkled, and her pearl-white teeth shone with the light. The Lord was handsome, and seemed to be enchanted by the Princess. Mars blinked several times and walking to Jupiter, whispered in her ear: "She is lucky, isn't she?"
Jupiter jumped a bit, and looking back, relaxed as she noticed it was her friend. "Jesus, you scared me Mars. You are right. I wish I had some one as good-looking as that guy with me..." her voice drifted off, as a dreamy look appeared in her eyes. They both jumped a bit, as a voice behind them said: "We'll be more than pleased to make that wish true, your Highness." They gulped, and turned around. As soon as they did, a pair of hearts appeared in their eyes. Their hands clasped together, and were positioned under their chins, as their mouths flew open. In front of them stood two men, smiling tenderly at them.
However, Mars recovered her composure, and hitting Jupiter with her elbow in the ribs, made her recover too. They coughed, and looked straight at the men. One of them, (the one in front of Jupiter), had auburn long hair. It was a bit curly, and fell past his shoulders. His eyes matched his hair, and he was as tall as she was. A tinge of recognition washed over Jupiter, as she remembered seeing him before.
Meanwhile, Mars was admiring the guy in front of her too. He had blond hair, cut in a similar style to Princess Uranus. Her eyes were blue, and reminded her of Mercury's hair. As she looked into those eyes, she couldn't stop feeling as if she had already met him before. And then, she remembered.
"Lord Jadeite, right?" said she.
The man bowed, and smiled. "I'm glad you remember me princess."
Mars blushed, and felt as heat ran through her body. Why I'm feeling so nervous, this is just another cute guy? Trying to avoid having him to notice her embarrassment, she looked at Jupiter, who wasn't doing any better.
Jupiter was asking at that time: "Lord Neflyte?" The man with red hair bowed too, and answered: "Yes Milady. I see you haven't forgotten me."
Jupiter blushed too, and put one finger in her mouth, biting her nail nervously. "Hmm, it's just that... we... you...." She stayed quiet, and looked at Mars. She saw as she was blushing too, and giggled. The generals smiled, but said nothing. When the girls calmed down, Neflyte repeated his previous statement.
"Would you like to dance Lady Jupiter?" The brunette smiled at him, and he clearly saw as her eyes sparkled.
"Sure, Lord Neflyte." She stretched her hand, and Neflyte took it in his. They walked together to the dancing place, followed by Mars' and Jadeite's eyes. He then turned to Lady Mars, and asked: "So, may I have this dance lady Mars?" The princess of Mars nodded, and they too walked away. The music was starting, when something unexpected happened.
They walked together to a table nearby, about twenty or forty pairs of eyes following them. Suri whispered back: "I don't like it. I feel like I'm being observed."
"Suri, everyone is watching you! Now, come on. Let's search for Mercury."
"I think that's gonna be difficult Venus."
"Why? Oh, I see." Venus looked in front of them, and noticed that there was an unbreakable wall of girls watching them, and on the other side, far, far away from the, was Mercury, who didn't even flinch at them. She was one of the four or five girls who weren't looking at Suri. Venus also saw that even Jupiter and Mars were staring at them. Serenity and Endymion were a bit apart, and Venus saw as the Supreme Princess blinked a couple of times, as if making sure she was seeing well. Then, when she had make sure her eyes were working well, she turned to look questioningly at Venus. The blonde saw as her eyes expressed a question, but she could do nothing to answer her.
A tug in her dress made her turn around. Suri was calling her. "What?" she whispered. She noticed a very heavy silence had spread over the room. Every sound, no matter how low it was, resounded as loud as a thunder.
"I think there's some girls who are headed here. What are we going to do? I can't approach Mercury with this human wall between us." Venus looked to where he told her, and saw as a group of five girls were walking towards them. Oh, boy. What am I going to do?, Lady Venus thought. They sure wanna dance with him. I've got to think of a good excuse, think, think, THINK!
Just then, she saw as the girls arrived, and ignoring her completely, surrounded Suri, and looking up at him (he was taller than them), asked in unison: "Would you like to dance with us?"
Suri remained silent, and just looked at Venus, a silent plead in his eyes. She felt as cold sweat ran through her back. What can I do? I need to... I'VE GOT IT!
Coughing to clear her throat, she turned the all the girls' attention to her. "I'm sorry, but Lord Suri of the Gemini constellation has already given a dance to Princess Serenity." She looked at Princess Serenity, and saw as surprise filled her face. I'm sorry Serenity, but you are the only one who these boy-crazy girls will respect!
The Supreme Princess was amazed at Venus' invention, but remained calm. Then, she smiled, and as she saw everyone was looking at her, she nodded. "Yes, that's true. Lord Suri will dance with me tonight." She clearly saw as Endymion gasped, but turned to him, and knowing no one could see her, she winked to him. The Prince understood, and walked with her to where Venus and Suri were standing.
Suri understood what he had to do, and bowed at the Supreme princess. He smiled, and said, "My Princess..." as he stretched his hand, and took the extended one of Serenity. She smiled, and looked at the band that had silenced a long time ago. They understood, and started playing again. Then they danced away together, leaving behind a sighing-in-relief Venus and a very startled Prince Endymion...
