Ruth's Rap Sheet (2004)
As 2004 winds down, I hope you have experienced many blessings.  Gearing up for 2005, I take a moment to share with you my 2004 highlights...
Work:  Gerbil Wheel Moments
Three years plus and still plugging away at Partners Healthcare, I have finally finished designing a software package for one of Mass General's (MGH) clinical departments.  However, the gerbil wheel moments come when I have my technical team constantly keeping me on my toes as they  dissect the design.  I am hoping that we will finally have something for our clientele to test in the spring/summer of 2005.
Ministry:  Bye Bye BOD ...Hello WM & Puppets
As of October, I complete my two-year term with my church's (BCEC) Board of Deacons. My last year serving was definitely filled with character-building moments.  I found my faith stretched and realized how much God had a good handle in all things as I managed a number of church events (e.g. baptisms, Christmas decorating, Chinatown Church cleanups) in my deacon role in General Affairs.
Although I had an opportunity to serve another term I decided to try out other ministries specifically in Women's and Children's Ministries.  Over the fall season, I helped coordinate workshops regarding exercise/posture and nutrition.
Recently, I had an opportunity to learn what stage management entailed as I helped manage a puppet show for a Children's Christmas party at my church.
Travel:  Europe & Vegas, Baby
I cannot have a year where I have not done some traveling.  This year was no exception.
In
July, my friend Mary and I trekked over to Spain, France, and Italy for a two-week  vacation tour.  We sampled great food, awesome sights, and filed for bankruptcy with our souvenir purchases!
In October, my friend Lu and I headed over to Las Vegas NV to try our hands on the slot machines; our stomachs on the great buffets; and our eyes on the occasionally elegant but mostly gaudy sights that make Vegas a city that never sleeps.
When I had a personal day to break from work, I also took some road trips to Newport RI to visit the Lees and to the Berkshires, Connecticut, and New Hampshire to do some leaf peeking.
Personal:  Diet, Social, Roommates, & a Godson
Last year, I had embarked on a diet research study with Tufts University.  To date, I have concluded my study and  lost 15 pounds.
Throughout the year, I had various opportunities to touch base with friends by hosting BYOB Hotpot and Tupperware parties and jewelry shows.  I also had numerous opportunities to celebrate with friends at five baby showers. Recently.  I have been blessed to be a godmother to Nathan L.
From zero to two in 12 months...roommates, I mean. Julie and Cenia join in on the fun at 91A.
