This entry is different from my usual entries, I've decided to write about spending Halloween and
Thanksgiving with my little ones.
Halloween was interesting. Everyone dressed up, Duo went as a bat, (it figures!), Shuu was a
caveman (that is so obvious.), Shin went as a scuba diver (that fits), Trowa was a clown, ( I give
up! I tried to talk him out of it. But, noooo, he had to do it!), Seiji broke down and went as a
hobo, (damn near fainted over that one!), Heero decided to go out as a biker, (beats me!), Wufei
refused to go. (I warned him, if he didn't go, he didn't get any candy. He ignored me, so he didn't
get any candy. Ever see a pissed off Wufei? He turns the most interesting shades of red. And
before you get feeling too sorry for him, do you really think that Shin wouldn't make sure Wu got
a share?). Poor little Quatre can't have sugar, so he stayed with Mom, while I squired the others.
A few days before Halloween, I took Quatre out and bought him several bags of sugar free candy.
I threatened Duo and Shuu with all kinds of horrors to make them leave his goodies alone.
On Oct. 28th, my hometown and the town my mother lives in held their Halloween celebrations.
Mom came down and picked the gang and I up, and took us to her house. Trick or Treaters were
out from six to seven-thirty p.m. When I left Quatre with Mom, he was excited, she was going to
let him give out the candy. Wufei gravely informed me, he would watch over the little Arab. I
thanked him, and rounded up the others and headed out.
I carried a flashlight and a big bag for the boys to pour their prizes in, when their bags got too full.
There is one advantage to riding herd on a group of tiny teenagers. (Excuse me! All right, Duo! I
heard you! Make that young adults, in the shadows, people mistook them for seven-year-olds, and
stop picking on Shuu, Shin and Seiji, I know their in their late twenties! Geez!)
One poor lady nearly got bitten, when she patted Heero on the head, and told him he was a cutie
pie! I grabbed him by the collar and dragged him out of there! Damn that Duo, he kept Heero
stirred up about that for weeks! In an hour and half, we covered four streets! The booty filled my
bag and all of theirs to the brim!
When we got back to Mom's, it was bang on seven-thirty. Now, came sorting the candy, Mom
and I dumped the bags into huge bowls and picked out and threw away anything that wasn't
wrapped, or was homemade, no sense in taking chances. Eight pairs of bright eyes watched this
with great interest, and the moans, when we'd throw something away!
I have no idea how many pounds of candy, I hauled home that night. What I do know is Shuu and
Duo both woke me with titanic bellyaches. And you know what, I damn well know, Duo and
Heero had been doing some creative things with the chocolate I gave them. Those two have their
own little private nest in the hall closet, and its' worth your skin to peek in on them, when they are
in there.
Everyone has his little nest, now. Shuu and Shin are behind the couch. Quatre and Trowa are in
my bedroom closet. Wufei is behind my big chair in the living room. Seiji has take up residence
behind my bed's headboard. The only time, they sleep with me, now, is if someone isn't feeling
well. They all seem to like snuggling up against me, when they're ill.
I am about to clock Duo one! He is teasing Quatre again! That dratted little pest knows Q isn't
allowed sugar, so what's he doing. Sitting beside him, and slowly peeling the wrapper off a candy
bar and passing it under Q's nose and asking him, "Uhmm, wouldn't you like a bite of this!"
Whoops, there he goes! Trowa to the rescue! Trowa shoved the whole bar in Doo's mouth, and
told him to choke on it! Be right back, I have to go separate them, before Heero gets into the act.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and my two chow hounds are slavering with anticipation. Duo and
Shuu are literally bouncing around here with excitement. We are going to my grandparents at nine
in the morning, and the boys can't wait.
I've been telling them about past Thanksgivings and Christmas's and how my grandmother would
spend days cooking for the holidays. I had a devil of a time to get them to bed. Finally, when I
thought everyone was asleep. I heard a soft whisper, "Will your cousin be there?" Duo was
standing on his tiptoes and looking at me. I sat up and pulled him into my lap.
"Where's Heero?" I asked.
"Asleep."
I rested my cheek on the little one's head and told him, "No, Beth isn't going to be there, so you
don't need to worry about Remy."
He sighed and wiggled off my lap. I put him back on the floor and he scampered off to bed. I just
shook my head. Does anyone know how to get someone over a hang-up?
Thanksgiving, Nov. 23
I routed everyone out of their various nests, so we could get breakfast and bathes out of the way.
Duo was as wiggly as an eel, and I had the very devil of a time getting him bathed. I finally had to
threaten to leave him home, alone, to get him to behave. He takes the longest, with Seiji next to
get ready as it is. It takes almost two hours to dry that hair!
By the dent of shouting, ordering and down-right threats, I had everyone fed, dressed and ready to
go by nine, only to have Mom call and say, "I'm running behind. Be there as soon as I can!" She
didn't pick us up until nine-thirty, by then, Duo and Shuu had convinced themselves, she wasn't
going and drove me nuts, demanding I call and find out what was taking so long! I ignored them,
I'm used to it; my family would be late for their own funerals.
When Mom got there she told us she'd had to scrap frost off the windows of the car; and she had
to load the food, she was taking. Duo wanted to know if he could have a little taste of the cake;
she'd baked. Heero yanked his braid, and made him sit down.
Ah, did you know Shin doesn't like hunting? It was several days into deer season. Mom and I
were talking about all the hunters, we saw parked along the roadside, and he went ballistic! How
could we talk about people shooting Bambi, like that, and approve of it! Quatre spotted a dead
deer along the roadside and started crying. Trowa tried to calm him, but Q would have none of it!
I wound up with him in my lap, crying on my shoulder. I sat there rubbing his back and singing to
him, he finally calmed down.
Shin and I had a very long talk that night, about his anti-hunting tendencies. We see each other's
points, but neither was budging an inch on our positions. (I think he's off his rocker.)
The names of my grandparents are Tressie and Hall Francis. Mom and the boys carried in the
food, Mom brought. I laughed my ass off, watching Trowa and Wufei manhandle a twelve pack
of soda down the stairs leading to the front door of the house.
When we got the stuff in the house, I sat Quatre down in front of the TV, and turned on the
parade. Duo and Shuu were constantly underfoot, as Mom, Granny and I tried to cook, and warm
up the food. Finally, Mom whapped both of them with a wooden spoon and ran them out of the
kitchen.
The rest wandered around the house, poking into everything. I hadn't seen Trowa and Heero for
awhile and went looking for them. I found them in one of the bedrooms with a WHOLE coconut
cream pie! They had spilt it down the middle and were helping themselves! I took it away from
them, and told them, not until after dinner!
You know what? They waited until I left and stole it back again!
We finally got the food on the table and I went to call everyone to the table, and found my
grandfather telling war stories to Q, Wu, Seiji, Shuu and Duo. The Old Man insisted that I had to
feed the boys, first. So, after my uncle offered Grace, I loaded plates of goodies for each of the
guys and spread them around the living room floor.
We had turkey, dressing, cole slaw, mash potatoes and poor man's gravy, chicken, tomatoes,
radishes, potato salad, green beans, boiled cabbage, jello, celery stuffed with cream cheese,
noodles in chicken sauce, olives, pickles, pickled green peppers and deviled eggs, and dinner rolls
with butter. We had milk and pop to drink. Dessert consisted of pies, chocolate, apple, coconut
cream, and lemon. We also had a lemon cake.
My little pigs ate until they couldn't move! I expected Duo and Shuu to eat like there was no
tomorrow, but SEIJI?! My grandmother beamed at them, she likes to see good eaters. After
dinner, Mom, Granny and I started to do the dishes, so we could play cards. Wufei told me, they
were going outside to look around, and I told them to stay on the hilltop.
I heard the door open, and Shin squealed. I shot out of the kitchen to see what was wrong and
through the open door, I saw a doe and two yearling fawns out in the yard. Quatre was enchanted
and clapped his little hands in delight! Then, they all got the bright idea of trying to see how close
to the deer, they could get before they bolted.
Now picture this. Eight pint-sized chibi walking as slowly as they can towards three deer; who are
staring right at them. I'll give the boys this, they got within maybe two hundred yards, before the
deer flip their tails, and walk away. I laughed myself sick.
We left at three o'clock, and went home. I told Granny, we'd be back for Christmas. That should
be a real mess.
That night, I suffered through not just two tummy aches, but eight! I went through a whole bottle
of Pepto-bismo!
Next on the agenda, is Christmas shopping, this is going to be interesting. (With chibi's, I don't think so!)
