2001 Arturo's/Kurucz - How good were they?
North Olmstead OH -
It is no small feat to play through an entire season, playoffs included, and only fall short of victory one time.  That is what the 2001 Arturo's/Kurucz team accomplished with an astounding record of 24-1.

The team was anchored by many seasoned veterans, the youngest being 30 years old.  It was smart hitting and stellar defense that allowed them to achieve the "Hardware" yet again.

The team distanced themselves from the other teams in the league by hitting a combined .610 in the regular season and .692 in the playoffs.  Thus making .623 the full season batting average.

Leading the charge was Jeff Zalick, the 2001 Tuesday Night MVP,  with a regular season average of .653 and a god-like .929 average in the playoffs.

Lou Brossard, former manager of the team, has played on the team for what seems to be an eternity.  When asked how he felt about the season he replied, "We only lost one game and I truly believe it was because I wasn't there".  Brossard who had recovered from a "collapsed lung" the year before had declared himself a part-time player for 2001 and thus limiting himself to all but one game.  Is this part-time?

Steve Kurucz the 2001 team manager led the team to it's best record in years.  "I just inherited a lot of talent.  I stuck them out there and just let them play", was his opinion of the team's success.

Will anybody ever be this good again?
