Drona gets the greatest wealth of all

When Drona was snubbed by Drupada [*], he desired to achieve as much wealth as possible. Hearing that Parasurama, the great warrior, was preparing to enter the final stage of life and was giving away all his wealth, Drona made his way to Parasurama's abode with all speed.

He was too late. Parasurama had already given away all his material possessions but could not turn away a brahmana who'd came to him in search of alms.

``Will you accept my teaching, O Brahmana, as there is nothing else I have to offer you?,'' he asked Drona.

Drona, of course, gladly agreed. Parasurama was the greatest of the warriors. He had taught his skills to Bhishma who became such a great warrior that he made the name of the Bharatas feared throughout the world.

Thus it was that Drona, who was already a good archer, mastered the military arts. He had gotten the greatest of Parasurama's possessions.
