Krishna arrives

Arjuna brought Draupadi who had chosen him in her swayamvara [*] to the house in Kampilya where the Pandavas were staying with Kunti, their mother.

The Pandavas looked at the beautiful Draupadi with longing. And Draupadi looked at the Pandavas one by one. Arjuna, slender and gracious; Bhima big and strong; Yudhishthira, wise and calm; Sahadeva and Nakula, young and full of life. And then they all looked at Arjuna.

Arjuna said, "Yes" and Draupadi agreed that it was something she would do. Thus, it was decided that Draupadi would marry all the brothers.

It was during that scene of lust and longing that Krishna entered the Pandavas' lives. He came with Balarama, his brother to the house in Kampilya. Kunti knew them because Krishna and Balarama were the sons of her brother.

Arjuna gazed on Krishna and something seemed familiar about this dark stranger. Krishna laughed. "I have known you and you me for a long time, Arjuna," he said, "I remember those lives, but you do not."
