It’s almost noon and Lina and Gourry finally got to the island.
Lina: Hey Gourry, don’t just sit there! The lost treasures are waiting for us to be found!
Gourry: Then where are we going?
Lina: I don’t know! The treasures are somewhere on this island, we just have to look everywhere.
Gourry: Don’t we have any treasure maps to tell us where to go?
Lina: OF COURSE NOT......wait a sec,
Lina pulled out a sheet of paper with a weird design and a huge “X” on it.
Lina: Is this a map?
Gourry: Where’d you get that?
Lina: The person who hired us gave it to me when we were leaving. I didn’t know it was a map. Okay, I think that we should be going......that way.
Lina and Gourry silently walk into the woods while the dark figure watched them from the highest tree. They walk deeper and deeper into the forest and the farther they go, the darker it gets and it almost seems that the animals of the forest are watching them. Gourry suddenly stops and he pointed to some skeletons lying on the side of the path.
Gourry: Hey Lina, I wonder who killed them.
Lina: Hmm....Gourry, I think that they were killed only days ago. Look, there is still some flesh and blood on the bones.
Gourry: Lina look, it’s the captain’s hat!
Lina went over to where the hat is and there is also ripped cloth lying around.
Gourry: Gee, it must have been windy.
Lina: No Gourry, I think the captain left last night and then got eaten by something...
Suddenly, a huge pack of wolves jumps out from where they were hiding and were about to attack when they were stopped by someone behind them.
“Stop!”
Lina: Huh?
The figure behind them walks forward and greets them with a too familiar grin on his face. His long silvery purple hair is tied back into a low ponytail and he wore a long, black coat with a some kind of magic sword on his side.
“Are you alright, my fair lady?”
Lina: Who are you?
“Ah~you need not to worry. My name is not important but you may call me Xeres.”
Lina: Alright, Xeres, and what are you doing on this island?
Xeres: Oh, I live here. Then may I ask you what are you doing here?
Lina: Ah, nothing, we were just looking for the captain of our ship, he’s em.... missing.
Xeres: Oh how unfortunate. I hope that Rakuma and the others didn’t find him before we do.
Lina: Why’s that?
Xeres: They eat anyone that they’re not familiar with. Well you two will be safe now. Ah yes, were you saying something about a ship that brought you here?
Lina: Yes, what about it?
Xeres: It’s not safe for the people of the ship. There are many whirlpools around this island. Why don’t you and the others come stay at my house for the night?
Lina: Thanks!
But when Lina, Gourry, and Xeres got to the beach, the ship was being suck down into a whirlpool and they can do nothing to stop it. Since they can do nothing now but wait for a ship to come by the island, Lina and Gourry decided to stay at Xeres’ house. By the time they got to his house, it’s already sundown. His house was actually a huge stone castle. Inside it are long silver hallways with doors on each side. Xeres showed them their room and then led them to the dining room. They took their seats and maids starts bringing in dishes of food.
Lina: So Xeres, why do you wish to live in such an island with only your servants?
Xeres: Oh, I don’t live here alone, I live with my master.
Lina: Your master?
Xeres: Yes. She owns this island and my job here is to keep everything out of chaos and the wolves are guardians of this island.
Lina: Ah~then what’s the name of this island? And why isn’t’ it on the map?
Xeres: The island isn’t mapped because no one ever been here and went back home, so no one knows about this place. Oh, and my master named this island, Wolf Pack Island.
Lina: WOLF PACK ISLAND?!?! Wolf Pack Island as in Dark Lord Zelas Metallium the Beastmaster’s domain, Wolf Pack Island?!?!
Xeres: Ah~how did you know?
Lina: It was said in the legend that the Beastmaster’s domain is named Wolf Pack Island by her and it’s filled with packs of wolves and no one every made it there and back alive!
Xeres: There’s such legend?
Lina: OF COARSE THERE IS! DO YOU THINK THAT I’M MAKING ALL THIS UP?? Wait-a-minute...if this is the Beastmaster’s domain and you’re her servant that means...I’M IN A DARK LORD’S HOME?!?!
Gourry: So what?
Lina: “SO WHAT???” Gourry! At least you can figure out that a dark lord is a mazoku and all mazokus want to kill me!
Gourry: They do?
After ten minutes of explaining and Gourry still don’t understand so Lina gave up in explaining and she continue her conversation with Xeres.
Lina: Em...Xeres, we really don’t want to bother you and your master so is there a way that we can get of this island, fast?
Xeres: Actually...no.
Lina: Why??
Xeres: Because there’s no transportation system for you and your friend to use.
Lina: Then how did you or your master get off this island?
Xeres: We teleport of coarse.
Lina: Then why don’t you teleport us to the main land?
Xeres: I have to stay here to keep everything in order.
Lina: A dark lord that wants order? That unusual....
Xeres: My Lady wishes her island to stay as peaceful as possible.
They finished eating their dinner and Xeres led them to another door.
Xeres: This is my room, if you need anything just ask me. Also, please don’t wander around in the castle or out in the forest, it very dangerous out there.
Xeres led them back to their room and he went back to his. Lina was really surprise when she saw what her room looks like. There’s a huge bed on one side of the room and there’s a closet and mirror across from the bed and huge glass windows filled up one side of the room. Next to the closet there’s a doorway that leads into a bathroom with rose petals around the tub and on the floor. The air is filled with the scent of roses and it makes Lina feel at home. She instantly fell asleep on her bed. In the next morning, the smell of food woke her up and she was welcomed by the beautiful scene outside her window.
