Right... this is what I previously had on my index page. It's not very interesting, but hey, read it anyway... I'll probably update it one day, then you can come back...

On the morning of Thursday, April 1st 1999, the last thing I saw myself doing was creating a web page based on Neon Genesis Evangelion. The first episode I ever saw was from a tape given to me by a friend, which I began watching at 10:30 pm that evening. By Friday afternoon, I had watched all but 2 and a half episodes - I think half of 6, and 25 and 26 (update: I've now seen episodes 25 and 26!!!) - and I was completely hooked. I think it was the complexity of the characters - they all have so much depth, yet they never do anything so much out of character as to make them unrealistic.

Anyway, after that experience I could only do one of two things: 1) go back to the start and watch them all again, or 2) go on the internet and find as many Neon Genesis sites as possible. Being me, I did both. And found, to my astonishment, that the majority of viewers dislike Shinji, finding him merely a wimp...! And they say they watched the show?

So I thought I'd better get myself a page so that I can tell the world why Shinji Ikari is a marvellous character - and person! Of course, the question is, why is he???
