This
album is somewhat of an oddity in the Seiko Catalog. It's not
strictly a "Christmas Album" like the earlier "Christmas
Tree" collection (Sony CD SRCL 2243, released November 1991),
despite the inclusion of "Together For Christmas" and
"A Wink To Santa," and the packaging in white, red and
green. It is probably most notable for the involvement Christopher
Conte, a dancer and background singer in Seiko's stage band...better
known to fans as Alan Reed.
Reed
performs two duets with Seiko on this CD: the English versions
of "Time For Love" and "You're My World."
He is credited with writing the lyrics for these songs, as well
as "Forever Your Everything" (the English version of
"Anata No Subete Ni Naritai" from 1992 Nouvelle Vague).
In 1993, Seiko was still experimenting with her use of English
language vocals. While she had greatly improved, her continued
hard work became apparent on the 1996 world-wide English project
"Was It The Future."
The
song "Time For Love" is a catchy, up-tempo pop song.
Track #8 is a rich ballad with beautifully arranged background
vocals (all performed by Seiko). If you listen to this song, you
can trace the evolution of Seiko's later collaborations with Ryo
Ogura such as 1998's "Fall In Love." This album was
not intended as a "major release," but a year-end treat
for the fans. Any true Seiko fan will want to have this as part
of their collection, and should enjoy it in the spirit in which
it was intended.
