After
"1992 Nouvelle Vague," Seiko's first full new release
(not including "A Time For Love" or "Sweet Memories
'93") was "Diamond Expression." It was a brilliant
move on her part to not issue "1992 Volume Two"...it
is a stand-alone classic, and any attempts to duplicate its format
or "feel" would have been regrettable. Instead she experimented
with a number of different styles, notably dance pop. Most of
the songs on "Diamond" are up-tempo tunes, heavy on
the beat and light on introspection. This album was made for dancing,
not contemplation...
Of
course, that doesn't mean that Seiko ballads are totally absent.
"Dear Mom and Dad" and "Kotton To Maakaretto"
are among her best. "Taisetsu Na Anata (Album Mix)"
is well known among Seiko fans (as well as a time-tested concert
favorite) and stands out as the strongest non-ballad track.
You
will find all four songs from the singles above on "Complete
Bible." On "Bible II," there is "Taisetsu
na Anata," "Hot Thing," and "Dear Mom and
Dad." On "Bible III," there is "Taisetsu na
Anata" and "Baby Make Love Tonight." On "Dear,"
there is "Taisetsu Na Anata."
